Here in Latvia we would use it for another 10 years as minimum, it just need a little bit of welding and thats it
@boehmfarm42767 жыл бұрын
That has more paint left on it than any of our gravity wagons.

JD running gears are some of the best we had all JD running gears 60mph down the road trails perfect
@fredcupp73587 жыл бұрын
You could extend it and make a nice hay wagon to haul bales a short distance. Flat bed wagons come in real handy.

We have a quite a few loads of scrap saved up, hundreds of big truck brake drums and all other bits and pieces of logging stuff. Hopefully the price will come on up a tad more and we will cash it in.

just an observation........you guys appear to be very analytical in your equipment decisions and i find that very refreshing.

We've got an old John Deere dry fertilizer machine, goes on the 3 point hitch, chisels in dry fertilizer on 4 rows at a time. We always washed the thing thoroughly with the pressure washer and soap when we were done, then SOAKED it with diesel fuel... just poured buckets of diesel into it and then went around it with a pump-up sprayer full of diesel and just soaked it, top to bottom, undersides, side to side, around the back and over the top, etc. Keep it in the barn away from water, it's held up so far... Later! OL J R :)

If you wash the tank out every time, it won't rust the same. We have just done Wholecrop harvest if you want to have a look Ryan?
@HowFarmsWork7 жыл бұрын
+Tom Pemberton Farm Life We did, but you can't get all the fertilizer out and over three decades it's eaten away at it.

How Farms Work oh that makes sense, We can all ours out but it's abit smaller 🙈. Dad made it bigger with old planks of wood so he can get two fert bags in hahha

That’s better shape than my best wagon that would be worth $1000 easy around here with the running gear. But we are small time farmers and do with what we have.

That claw they use to unload is pretty cool
@markhertzog66367 жыл бұрын
That would make a good trailer for your 6 row corn head.
@markhertzog66367 жыл бұрын
BIlly the SMall Bong thorton from india. I made mine from a similar running gear for the exact same head. We even stretched it for the 893 john Deere it holds now. Have you had problems with yours?

my uncle made a header cart with running gear like this and a telephone pole. works great
@night_bot37987 жыл бұрын
Why did you not take the extensions of and keep them? never know when ya might need em.
@douglaslaramie92457 жыл бұрын
Ryan, on our soils (which are different than yours, I know) nearly 100 % of the planters run a high phosphorous starter fertilizer on the row at 2" beside and 2'" below the seed. I use dry at about 150 -170 lbs/ acre. Some guys use liquid. At that rate it doesn't slow you down that much filling. I have experienced the yield advantage of starter vs no starter first hand, by accident when I broke a fertilizer drive chain. Obviously on your soil it doesn't affect yield that much or you would go back to a starter fertilizer. Even on high fertility fields the starter fertilizer being that close to the row, works for us. Is it fair to say for you guys it's not worth the effort? KIT d
@scottviers37947 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you keep the box extensions. You could have used them on another.
@HowFarmsWork7 жыл бұрын
+Scott Viers Odds are we aren't going to be getting another wagon that small any time soon and they'd end up sitting around taking up space.
@matt568497 жыл бұрын
They actually work well the top, far side of a big wagon so you're not as likely to run it over when filling it with a grain cart. At least we did it for our 650bu wagon that sits in at the auger to the grain bin, on the far side and the ends
@57fitter7 жыл бұрын
I'm glad someone else saw that, too. Everybody on Craigslist would have given fifty bucks for them.
@lukestrawwalker6 жыл бұрын
Or sell them on fleabay... some guys still run wagons that small and could have used a set of good extensions... Later! OL J R :)
@VideosByAl7 жыл бұрын
That box would have been $55 in Cedar Rapids Ia. However that Deere gear is worth $250 for a Hay Rack.

You may want to consider sandblasting the rust off of the frame and repainting it while you have the chance.

scrap metal is dirt cheap anymore. around here its not even worth the fuel to haul to the yard unless you got one hell of a load. i worked at a small engine shop and we would let anyone who wanted it take the scrap metal.
@Blazer02LS7 жыл бұрын
Same here. I just toss all the scrap into a chassis that is heading to a yard and let them worry about it.
@rogerwilson93617 жыл бұрын
Ryan, I would think you could use with spraying or new gravity wagon many possible uses for it.

It was definitely time to send that one down the road. Is the running gear sufficiently heavy duty to handle a chopper box if required in the future? If not, how will you use it?
@HowFarmsWork7 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Hoag Could be converted to a flat bed for large squares. Could be made into anything, I've heard of guys mounting sprayers on them.
