Great instruction, thank you. I can't figure out how to get auditioning grooves to line up with my selected start of a section of my tune. For example, my verse starts at measure 6, I'm in the Grooves tab, the 1 of the auditioned groove does not line up with the beginning of the section, rather it jumps to somewhere in the middle. Is there a good solution for this?
@ShootieSchool Жыл бұрын
I'm actually coving this soon, but so far... Start your songs on measure 1 or measure 5. Wish I had a better solution. Maybe soon in my advanced Grooves Tab vids coming soon. If you're auditioning a 1 measure Groove, you won't have this problem. An 8 measure Groove will be more particular of where it starts compared to what measure in your DAW you're on.

Thank you, Shawn! Lately I've been paying attention to why people still drag their midi out of EZ now with version 3 that has the Grid Editor. There's only a few good reasons besides habit. Do you have any reasons you'd like to share? I can drag right out of EZD3's Song Track in Pro Tools on a PC with no problems, BTW. I would assume any DAW still works like this.

Hey Shawn, I love your work it's pretty Ez to follow your process. I wanted to reach out to ask you a question about applying this process. I just got Ez Drummer 3 for my set up and was trying to follow your work flow tips with grid editor. I couldn't figure out how to real time edit in grid editor to effect what is already in my Ableton arrangement or session view. When I deleted parts in grid editor it did not effect my project in the daw only in the grid editor. Is there a certain way I need to be pulling tracks into Ableton or just a basic step to set up Ez drummer that I'm missing in order to allow me to edit tracks in Ez drummer grid editor to effect my daw track as well?

There exists a known issue (Studio One DAW) when using the grid editor in Superior Drummer 3 in a busy (CPU hungry) song whereby the SD3 cursor does not correlate (follow in sync) with the notes being played on the grid making grid editing really frustrating and time consuming, apparently it’s due to latency issues not locking-in the GUI cursor to the note (audio) position. I was hoping that EZD3, assuming it to be leaner on the CPU, might not suffer to the same extent but having swapped SD3 for EZD3 in a Studio One song the same problem persists! I don’t know if this is unique to S1 or not and there are workarounds but it destroys the workflow and can render the grid editor in the Toontrack Drummer plugins tantamount to useless - sigh!! It would be interesting to know if this problem is limited to Studio One or if other DAW’s suffer similarly (I know it’s not exclusive to my DAW/computer set up). Regards and thanks for the vids….

I know it's unrelated to this video, but I've been having an issue with ezd3 where anytime I edit midi in ezd3, and then play it back in my daw, I lose my cymbal hits. I have to go into the piano view in my daw and move the cymbal hits to the right crashes. I contacted toontrack support about this and they gave me a weak response and had no interest in solving my issue, claiming it was the daw's fault, however if I use ezd2, I have no issue. It's very frustrating and I can't seem to find an answer. You can imagine how incredibly annoying it is to have to go in and move all cymbal hits everytime I use ezd3

@@Laptops1781 The DAW you use may not even have the option to delete them. I'm not sure what DAW your using. Or really anything about your situation/setup besides the problem. @@ShootieSchool I am recording all my drum tracks inside my daw (cakewalk) with my e drums. Everything works as it should, until I edit the midi inside ezd3. Once I do that, all the cymbal hits move to a muted hit, and then I have to go into the piano roll inside cakewalk and move all the midi to the correct hits. If I pull a midi file from the ezd3 library and drag it to my daw track, the same thing happens. So it's not necessarily an e drum thing, it's happening with ezd's own midi files. I have the drum track midi in reaper and it plays that but it seems in the video that you don't. When I playback in reaper EZD3 does not follow along like it is in the video if that makes any sense. It's like they are not connected at all. Yes I am opening it up in the DAW and not using the standalone version. I removed the midi in the track and now the drums don't play at all but I can play from within EZD3. It's like they are not synced. I really don't want to edit the midi with the reaper grid editor, I really like the layout of the grid editor in EZD3. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would help speed up my editing process. Thanks in advance.
