EZdrummer 2 Tutorial #5 - Your first drum track

Been watching this series as I have just downloaded EZDrummer and it's been a great watch and very useful, just a shame there isn't any more as I would like to go a bit more in depth, like dropping midi into easy drummer, is that midi notes dropped from say EzKeys and letting EzDrummer work out a beat? Is that how that works? Many thanks Ryan.

Hi there, thanks for the comment and for watching my little tutorial series! I'm actually working on new EZDrummer 2 tutorials which will be released in the next few days. The past few months I reached a point where it made sense for me to found a business as a songwriter and composer, but the bureaucracy took way longer than expected. Luckily I have more time to work out videos again. :) Anyway - If you have more questions in your mind, let me know and I'll include them in the new videos as these are not entirely finished yet. Hi, thanks for your tutorials. I just started using ezdrummer 2 through Cubase. I’m using it with my edrums, alesis nitro. Do you know how to remap midi triggers to the drum sounds in ezdrummer? Meaning if you hit an edrum and it plays a hi hat but you need it to trigger a Tom.

Hi Jason, thanks for your comment! Unluckily you can't route MIDI notes from within EZ Drummer 2, but there is a solution for this calles drum maps. Basically the drum map is a simple list of midi inputs and midi outputs, allowing you to change midi notes inside Cubase. By default the input note is equal to the output note. E.g. if your kick drum trigger sends a C1 to Cubase, Cubase will send a C1 to EZ Drummer. EZ Drummer will then play whatever instrument is assigned to the Midi note C1. By changing the output note, you can manipulate which instrument is being played inside EZ Drummer. For example: Input: C1 Output: D1 This means every time Cubase receives a C1, it will change it to a D1 instead. So if you play your Kick (C1), Cubase will change it to a D1 and sends it to EZ Drummer. EZ Drummer will then play whatever instrument is listening for the D1 (by default it's the snare) By changing the midi output notes on your drum map you should be able to entirely correct the routing issues you're having. I'm sure you can find something about drum maps in the Cubase documentation. Hope this helps! Please let me know in case you can't get it to work, then I'll make a video about this. Cheers Tobi
