So one of the criteria is making sure a candidate is rooted in the core values , principles and interest of the Edo people , part of which includes understanding the language, history and culture of the state that you intend to lead as it is done in America , England , France and even in the North and Northeast Nigeria and others! You are right, the Oba only cleared the fact that Akpata is not royalty since Akpata claim to be from the palace and only the royals can claim that while still accepting that Akpata is an indigenous son of the soil.
