SYNCHRONISED 3m SPRINGBOARD MEN'S - FINAL - European Championships - Glasgow - 10th August 2018

Jack Laugher's chance to re-create his Commonwealth Games Triple Crown Gold were dashed by just 0.54 of a point to Russia's dream team of Ilia Zakharov and Evgenii Kuznetsov.
Russia outperformed Great Britain's Laugher-Mears first two dives until a poor execution of the Back 3 - 1/2 Somersaults in Russia's third dive.
The final dive saw Russia lead the diving with a great performance while the Laugher-Mears team lacked precision in their execution of the Forward 4-1/2 Somersaults which cost them dearly.
Germany's Patrick Hausding and Lars Ruediger took bronze despite 29 year old Hausding complaining of aches and pains affecting his performance.

1:40 I know scoring is considered very subjective in diving, but wow - judges will factor in a country's reputation for diving? not just to give the benefit of the doubt, but to dock points? seriously?!

I love to watch diving but I am just now trying to understand how the scores are actually calculated. I've tried googling it but if I try to calculate a score based on what the internet says, I never end up with the score the video actually displays for any of these dives. Could someone please explain how this actually works?

the highest score and the lowest score is crossed out. Then the average of the scores is taken. The average is then multiplied by 3. then that number is multiplied by the DD or difficultly if the dive.

hugely unfair judges... marking down really good dives, giving incredible points to bad ones... wtf???

Sometimes I wonder if judges see the same dives as we do. Some preliminary marking seems way off.
