最近は本州でも見かける事があるらしいですが、それらはペットとして輸入された外来種が野生化したものです。
北海道のエゾシマリスはシベリア系統の亜種と言われています。
山間部の森に暮らしていますが天敵が多く生きていくのは大変です。
動きはとてもユーモラスで可愛さ満点です。
This small animal lives only in Hokkaido in Japan.
Recently, it is said that they can be seen in Honshu as well, but those are wild versions of non-native species that were imported as pets.
Hokkaido's Ezo chipmunk is said to be a subspecies of the Siberian strain.
