Only Rahdo has the ability to form and express a complaint that gets me excited about a game!

Don't forget Sam Phillips who does an excellent job on the art. :) This game is an instant buy for me.

yes, i think sam's art is great. some people seemed to be really down on it when he first made the scene in circadian, but i've always liked it. seems to be more widely accepted now!

@rahdo Hadrian's wall was already excellent, but this new release is phenomenal! Additionally, Garphill Games works with the Mico for their sagas. Their games are great for the artwork alone. And then there is their symbiotic mechanic relation. I love it! :)

Wait so there’s three mini games? Where are those people with pitchforks who complain about Feld “mini games”.
@rahdo Жыл бұрын
i think feld has paved the way for bold advancements in design! :)

I think Garphill could get away from kickstarter for some of their games.

margins are tougher than ever in the boardgame industry, we're still seeing pubs and stores going out of business all the time. so to me it's totally understandable that they'd want to have the safety net that crowdfunding affords!
@S.Kapriniotis Жыл бұрын
As long as they offer them to retail and you can get the promos through their site then there is no reason to not use a crowdfunding platform.

"rondel, why not?" because most of the games these days just add complexity to mask an intriguing basic idea/concept. More elegance and clever twists rather than reciclying mechanisms just to throw a product out there.

Finally a good game with a religious theme?
@rahdo Жыл бұрын
i'd call it more of a historical setting that's religion adjacent. there's no actual spiritual elements in the gameplay, but there is the teaching of the torah and a few quotes from ezra in the rules setting the stage for the gameplay :)

kings of israel was a good game with similar historical setting, i covered it years ago. for more directly religious boardgame content, apparently ierusalem: anno domini is pretty good, and i believe it directly references divinity through iconography
@twinkle04evr Жыл бұрын
I agree about the historical of rebuilding the Jerusalem wall, Torah equal 5 first 5 books of Old Testament in the Bible. I watched King of Israel before, but never heard of Jerusalem anno domini, thanks Richard!
@rahdo Жыл бұрын
sure thing! remember, if you go looking for it, it starts with an i for ierusalem, which makes it tough for some folks to find on boardgamegeek and google :)

No one saw it coming? I now need to be aware of them potentially doing a Spanish Inquisition game. Why the Spanish Inquistion? Ximinez: NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Ooo... that is SOOOOO Ninja. 🥷
