Twirl star ball (EzyCraft) - How to make a paper ball of starfish/star rose - EzyCraft

In this video, I have experimented with using the twirling technique on the circular shape of paper. Combined with the geometric shapes of dodecahedron and icosahedron in the concept, I have constructed the starfish and star rose paper balls. To succeed in these twirling projects, always reinforce your curls as much as you can! Also ensure that the end of the curl unit is sharp, so that the construction of the sphere is tight and durable.

Instructions are really vague and the speeded up video makes it hard to see wtf they're actually connecting. Also they could have specified up front that you need SIXTY circles to start with. Not just - oh make 5. Also, wtf was all that folding into squares at the beginning about? It had absolutely no use.

@@rageonyx I agree that the video should be slowed down a bit but you can do that anyways. The folding squares at the beginning show where the three folds/equal parts should be done. The first fold is half of the vertical fold you first make, the other two folds are the diagonals in the small squares below the first fold.

To get 60 identical small paper circles: Take 15 origami papers, fold in quarters. Use a cup to trace a circle on the top, and cut out 4 at once. Another way to speed up the process: instead of doing all the tricky folds every time, make a template of your circle with markings 60° apart so you can just transfer them over with a pencil. I'm making it!

That's a great idea! They could make great ornaments for the tree. We used fancy Origami paper and have made ornaments in the past. Purple, orange, black, and gold for Halloween . Fall leaf colors for Thanksgiving. Pastels for Spring/ Easter would be cute etc.

3:53 No! the complete ball will be easier to join if you make the other six into the second hemisphere first, and then join both hemispheres on their edges one curl at a time. That will also make the curling order easier to do by following in order around the rim.
