Put that exact same mirror in my 2024 Maverick XLT as well as my father's 2023 Lincoln Corsair. Great mirror and only cost $31 ship from Kia Florida

That's correct. I used my own splice connector to modify the ground that came with the mirror, but other than that - everything else I showed in the video came with the kit.

When I found this product number I found a site using the product number from another video and when I placed the order they let me know that the original product number I used was discontinued and recommended this one in place of it. I would do the same thing using the product number I provided.

Where do I get the ground male tab? Was the black wire a constant or switched power?

I had one in my tool box. You can get them on amazon if you don't have any laying around.

I just purchased a 2021 XL and would like to get rid of the ancient garage door opener clipped to my visor full of ancient CD's. One question: the wire that you affixed the spade connector is connected to the green ground wire? I couldnt hear if you addressed that and I couldnt really see in the video. Thanks again.

yes, green is ground so after I modified the lug that came on it, I attached it to the green wire on the connector. I'm not sure what wire harness comes on the XL trim so I don't know if the colors are the same, but I would think that they are.

I believe you said you used the constant 12V wire? With this setup I think the garage door opener feature (homelink) is always active, meaning if the truck is in your driveway and someone breaks into your truck (or you leave it unlocked), then they can easily open the garage door. OK for some, but others will really dislike that operation. I believe if you tapped into the 12V switched wire instead (at least for the homelink wire), then this would not be the case. Just pointing this out, lots of people have the "clickers" attached to their visors, and this is the exact same level of risk, so it is not that different from how a lot of people use their garage doors. But it is something I think should be avoided in general, given the choice.

Also, I don't know what wire is which, but a user in one of the f-150 forums posted that their 2021 black wire was switched, and that the red was constant.

@@user-we4ul8jw3k I have learned the hard way that it doesn’t work unless the truck is on 😂 so I don’t believe it’s drawing power when it’s off

I just installed the same mirror in my 2019 f150. The only problem is the mirror will not turn on. I verified it has power to the mirror but it just won’t turn on. Could there be something wrong with mirror? Please give me advise.

I have it wired just like in your video to the green wire. All the other install videos are also using green wire so Im pretty sure it is done correctly. Im kinda burnt out with it for today but I will double check tomorrow. Thanks for getting back with me.

well...just my luck. I got my mirror in today, opened it up, and it is a mirror that only has auto dimming, NO homelink....so now I am stuck with a mirror I do not need and the best deal so far on one that would have the homelink is over $100. Anyone need a auto dimming mirror? cheap? LOL

Can this mirror be used on any vehicle?

I would think so, as long as it has a standard rear view mirror mount. Worst case I would just be careful disassembling what you have and if it doesn't work - return the unit.

As long as you have a power source, it will work.

Do you have to turn the mirror on, via the power button, every time you turn on the truck or will it default to last setting?

You also said in the video that the black was constant power. Was that accurate or is it ACC power? I don’t want constant power to the garage door opener as my truck stays in the driveway. I enter the house through the garage.

@@jamesm927 I was incorrect, that’s ACC power. I also park in the driveway and I have to turn my acc power back on if I forget to hit the button before turning my truck off

It is on the link in the description. It looks like that part is discontinued but if you reference that part number (A7062-ADUP1) you may be able to find one that works. Best of luck.
