It`s not just the planes but the tactics they employ.The pilots have to get used to night sorties to hit troop concentrations,command posts,radar and artillery supplies.They don`t want to get into air to air fighting. F16`s are great air to ground platforms.Hope they do well.
@covrtdesign52793 ай бұрын
The F16 is specifically for air to air fighting, especially against Russia's current fleet. Shat are you remotely talking about? The radar alone can see 3x further than anything that Russia has.
@Andreas-gh6is3 ай бұрын
@@covrtdesign5279 Nope, no dogfighting. At best they'll try to launch long or midrange missiles. The planes are too valuable, and the Russians aren't entering Ukrainian airspace much already. Both sides have plenty of anti-air, so even when fighting air-to-air they will stay on their own respective lawns throwing shit at each other.

This video points out something I didn't know before, despite following events surrounding the F-16's deployment in Ukraine (or elsewhere!): what I was led to believe was a feature of "decadent Western design oversights", the initially head-scratching positioning of that gaping maw of an air intake, is actually genius & not a stupidity! So there is a profound design decision as to the planes' configuration: do you design it to take off from a runway constructed of giant concrete blocks with unavoidable gaps in between them that allow grass to grow & dirt & random debris to accumulate that could get sucked into a an under-the-fuselage intake system, or do you trade that vulnerability for a much smaller radar signature? Since your Air Force groundskeepers aren't a bunch of vodka-soaked Orc goons, & you have the technology to use asphalt instead of the large concrete blocks that the Soviets used for, well, almost everything; you could easily build & maintain a clean, smooth, runway surface. You see in the video the exact nature of the Ukrainian Soviet-era runways, with the grass growing in between those big slabs of concrete. Undoubtedly it makes for cheap & dirty construction. Two things that define the troglodyte mindset of the Orcs of Mordor...

“Most of our military airfields have a runway made of concrete slabs. There are seams that need to be ironed. If you properly prepare those runways, then there will be no problems in general. The F-16s still have the issue of a low air intake that can suck in foreign objects. It's dangerous, and you have to be aware of that, you have to keep the runway clean,” (words of Yuriy Ihnat, the Ukrainian spokesperson for the Air Command)

From those FAB glide bombs, yes! But as far as winning the war singlehandedly, there's no "Wünderwaffen" coming to Ukraine that can do that. And no responsible Blogger/Commentator/Analyst has said so or ever will say so! But is this a HUGE help to the Ukrainians because their biggest military vulnerability is a shortage of effective air defenses? You betcha!!!😎

A modern highway in a civilized country, which is cleaned thoroughly before being used as a runway, is something different from an overgrown concrete-slab airbase from the soviet era. I'm sure the Ukrainians will figure it out. But even the concrete is a problem because it sheds small pieces all the time, especially when blasted by jet exhausts and so on....

We really don't know what the F-16 can do in an actual War but we know what the ahem "super rugged Russia aircraft" ahem can do which is basically get blown away by Ukraine...by far less modern Russian aircraft. Obviously the number of F-16 Air frames heading into Ukraine compared to what might be available is very small certainly no more than 100. Setting up an Air Campaign for using these items appears to be the Mission therefore and yes absolutely will include proper ingress and egress points presumably all over Ukraine from even Highways if need be. If Ukraine can make this work might start to see a flood of western air power arriving. Enough to end the War? Hopefully so.

Who writes this tripe? F16 was designed to operate in austere conditions, from forward airbases. Yes the intake is under the nose, but it is forward of the front wheel for the very purpose of not collecting debris from the wheel. It can use soviet runways with no problems, even paved roads. These people talk about Falcon like some glass jawed soup can. Obviously these people know not of what they speak.

The F-16s will be based in Poland where NATO technicians can perform maintenance. They will make a big show of the planes flying to a Ukrainian air field where they will be refueled, armed, and a Ukrainian pilot put at the controls. After the F-16 makes its strike in eastern Ukraine, it will return to Poland. When a month or more passes, the F-16s will take off in Poland, perform a touch-and-go at a Ukrainian air field and proceed on its strike to eastern Ukraine. This process will continue until an F-16 is lost and the the See-Eye-AH pilot will be shown on Kanal13 news.
