The F-16V or Viper is the latest variant of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, this is a fourth-generation, multi-role, fighter aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin. The Viper integrates advanced capabilities as part of an upgrade package to better interoperate with fifth-generation fighters, including the F-35 and the F-22.
The fighter jet can be deployed in the suppression of enemy air defences (SEAD) missions, air-to-ground and air-to-air combat, and deep interdiction and maritime interdiction missions.
The aircraft features airborne mission role-change capability and can detect and track time-critical, hard-to-find targets in all weather conditions. It also reduces operational costs for the users.

I love everything about the F-16.... in its original unaltered form. It's such a simple, yet beautiful design. Recent additions such as a dorsal spine, conformal fuel tanks, and unappealing dual cockpit I perfectly understand, but in the end, all that clutter just seems to basterdize what it's designers meant it to be.

It’s either they update it or trash it, I hate the tanks too, but everything else is perfectly fine, the jet just needed more fuel to keep up with those longer ranges jets without giving up more weapon slots

You forgot to mention that Taiwan already operate their block 70 vipers and that Bahrain has yet to receive their vipers. also Greece have started modifications on their vipers to block 70 standards.

yup heard lots of countries that own f-16s are upgrading them I guess that's another beauty of this jet I like the block 50s looks more but technically block 70 is obviously better ngl I'm still quite sure that the title of this video is clickbait though, 5th gen capabilities is still not possible for the f-16 even with block 70 models its probably a weaker 4.5th gen fighter (compared to aircraft like Eurofighter, rafale, f-15ex, su-35) but still a respectable opponent indeed and probably my favorite 4.5th gen plane in terms of looks

Just to correct you about the Bulgarian order of F-16 Fighters. The order is for 16 fighters F-16 Block 70, not for the Viper modification. We are supposed to receive the first 8 jets in 2025.

It's all the same. What was initially dubbed the F-16V is now the new baseline F-16 and block70/72 designates the level of modernization. In short, F-16V is the same as F-16 block 70/72.

the Indian Air Force could do with a fleet of 83 - 89 brand new F-16V Fighting Falcon (Block 72+ Advanced) multi role interdictor strike fighter . . . instead of upgrading 153 F-16A Fighting Falcon (Block 20) multi role fighter the USAF can simply acquire 138 - 143 brand new F-16V Fighting Falcon (Block 72+ Advanced) multi role interdictor strike fighter . . . as for the upgrade of existing airframes the U.S. DOD can sell the F-16A Fighting Falcon (Block 20) multi role fighter (after upgrading to Block 70 standards) to foreign operators that are not in a position to buy brand new F-16V Fighting Falcon (Block 72+ Advanced) multi role interdictor strike fighter . . .

Missile trucks and strike aircraft will still be 4th gen. 5th gen are for gaining air superiority and datalink target locking for 4th gen fighters trailing behind to fire at from long range. The missile trucks can carry large underslung AMRAAM or bomb loadouts that would "unstealth" a 5th gen fighter. It is a combined arms approach. One is the sniper/spotter. The other is the heavy weapons platform.

The F-16 was a great weapon, but it was made for a different era. It still has use on the foreign market, but as a strike-fighter-interceptor for NATO, it’s range is just too limiting. Missile and sensor technology has evolved to such a degree that tankers are available in less and less of the global air space during a conflict, and air bases need to be farther and farther away, as well as smaller and distributed. As is, the F-16 either ran out of fuel or forced a tanker to venture into dangerous territory, unescorted, during Desert Storm thirty years ago because of their range. And as is, so much of the fighter’s energy-maneuverability are sacrificed for external fuel tanks, even conformal, for regular missions. The F-16V definitely stretched a great plane’s capability, but it was wise for the US to pass on it, and spend their money on the F-35 and B-21.

Pilot drops the fuel tanks before entering the fight. Have you ever been in Europe? Distance is really not a problem. Plane is still perferct for todays era. There is much more jets of this and lower quality in airforce of countries all around the world and it is avionic and missiles what is doing the jets good , fight is beyond visual range nowadays. See Israel, what are they doing with f16s.

That was 30 years ago, and with heavy help from stealth aircraft as is. As I said, it has its value, on the foreign market particularly, but it’s obsolete as a NATO strike-fighter-interceptor.
