The PBS series 'Carrier' has an amazing pitching deck scene. The boat was off Australia, and it was in a dutch roll so basically wobbling all over - at night. Captain made them do ops even though there was strong disagreement on the air side. So many bolters it was insane. People coming down shaking from the adrenaline once they finally managed to get aboard. They needed to launch a tanker to support the remaining jets, and a nugget was scheduled. Squadron commander took the slot instead. He's obviously the last to get aboard, with no airborne gas 'cause he was the airborne gas. They show the crosshairs tv display (PLAT Cam) at the back of the boat and the Super Hornet is way off in the distance, going up and down. The whole way in you see the jet rise way out of the crosshairs and slowly fall down as the deck climbs. But the jet's getting bigger and bigger and is steady as a rock on its glide path. I don't know if he got a 3 wire, but it was a single pass trap that had the pilots watching in the ready room bowing down the "We're not worthy" at the TV screen. Pretty impressive to see what a difference experience makes.

I wouldn’t have thought LSO stuff would move my needle at all…but I have to admit, I found it really interesting. The faith and trust that an aviator HAS to put into an LSO when it’s a pitching deck, bad weather, etc….that’s got to be a tough thing to do..
