I think buying FA 18 wont be a best idea for India .FA18 Its was first built in 1978 , 4th generation multi role fighter . India already posses Ground attack mirage , and air combat dogfight as SUs and Migs which are 4th generation . There instead of buying another 4th gen we should instead invest that money on AMCA the upcoming 5th gen multi role . It will help get ready quick and also reduce import as well as own made jet for our own use and lack of dependency . I trust India can built better than foreign .

The F/A 18 will be for Indian Navy, if purchased. On the other hand the fighter jets you mentioned are basically for Indian Air Force. AMCA will take time, for the meantime, we need Super hornet or Rafael Marine.
