Super interesting points!!! I have been playing DCS for a little while, mainly in the Hornet and the F-15C (FC3 plane, so not full fedelity). And i can see a situation where a gamer with good physique and mental health could hop in a Hornet, and with minimal instructions take off and deploy weapons. Whereas the last generations of pilots had to start in dinosaurs like the vietnam era T-38 such as the two of you for example, and then learn a whole platform and all the small and tiny details in its charecter, just to forget all about it the moment you step foot in a modern plane with FBW and a new FCS. I think investments need to be made in versions of the F-35 and F-22 need to be made, with lower power more reliable non after burning engines, lack of stealth coating, weapons deployment systems. But with the true SA ability (Can be simulated in the air without the real sensors), and most importantly, the FBW and FCS from the actual planes, to get to terms with the basics of the airframe, without the risk and cost of all the stuff that only becomes important when actually in a real fight! This may very well sound dumb, but i think its a decent take on how we could fix the issue? Cuz training on the real airframes is extremely expensive, and wears them down when they could be in better shape if used more for thier intended purpose :) Awesome little video, take care!
