Not to state the obvious, but the SA being so much worse in 3rd gen really ups the tension of these furballs. You can hear it in Tempest's voice, he's just that tad bit more on edge than when you hear him in a Tomcat

At 1:10 how did you lock him up? Use Radar BST mode and adjust Aspect Knob and Gain Knob? I can't lock up when target is in close range. Can you please tell me how can I lock targets in close range?

We miscommunicated, he wanted to do a Front aspect shot in Cage but I thought he wanted a STT launch. Our normal way is to have me select BST on the Mode knob to give it extra range, as the pilot's Cage mode is hard limited to 5 NM. Either Cage or BST will still allow you to move the cursor vertically along the radar screen and lock any contacts your pilot puts the nose on, and gain still works as normal.

​@@Checklist_STT When I use BST there is just green line on my radar screen but in this video you have clean picture. Is that because there is no terrain behind the target?

i put the aircraft low to the ground so I could skyline the bandit as best i could, we were on the deck but there was mostly sky behind the bandit so checklist had an easier time making it out.

@@ABC-lh4vp I didn’t realize this at first, but you must squeeze the trigger to half action in order to start acquisition ranging (?) (WTF is the radar actually doing with half action while in bst??) Then you’ll see any targets within the detection volume displayed as an obvious contact and that ground clutter will be minimized
