F/A-18C AGM-88C Max Range Demonstration

DCS World 2.5
Doing a quick demonstration of the AGM-88C at Max Range. In real life it has a max range at 45,000 of 80nm. Here in the game I was only able to get about 74-76nm max range, but that is still pretty amazing to able to shoot a SEAD weapon that far out to be effective.

I was an Aviation Ordnance Tech on the USS Theodore Roosevelt from 86 to 90. I was in the G3 division of the Weapons department which were the Mag Rats. I was sent to the AGM 88C “A” school which was an intense 3 day course on the weapon. Fascinating weapon

With Target of Opportunity Mode the HARM should loft.

Thanks for the vid! For the GoPro shot, better edit shadows config for high rez shadows, otherwise it doesn't look that good.

@@TrickerDCS Also worth a try, to leave shadows.lua unedited, but in C:\Users\***\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config modify a line in options.lua. Set ["shadows"] = 5, that will switch preset to Ultra (with higher resolution), this option is not available through dropdown and will display in the UI as 0. It shouldn't brake multiplayer IC

Irrelevant. HARM has a memory function, turning the RADAR off does jackshit for you. Unless you manage to move it, in which case the emitter may still be damaged.

@@TrickerDCS Huh. Fair point. To be honest I have no idea how exactly they achieved it. I assume it's from when the missile gets the location info from the plane, it gets the location, or that the missile will simply keep flying straight? I don't know, I just know they added that after Shrikes could be defeated by shutting off Radar.

How is it that your trackir is so direct and precise? I can't get mine to have this behavior, it's always sluggish/slow.

How do you guys get the radar to work? Am I missing a switch? It doesn't indicate any sam's. I tried the 13, 10, and 11, but theyre all not showing up, rendering my 88's useless. My version is up to date.

Did you try an instant action mission? If you create a mission you gotta do some extra stuff in the mission editor
