I started with placidus like every beginner but as i learned more, i experimented with whole signs and it fits me more. In placidus I'd have venus, mercury and nn in the 10th but with whole signs it moves them into the 11th where my sun is and a 11th house emphasis makes more sense to me than 10th. It's actually helped me understand why i am like this more than placidus 😂 the things is, lines are blurry to me since i have mars conjunct mc which makes the 10th house also really important.. My virgo self hates that there's no one true answer but oh wellll. I love your videos by the way! :)

A client asked me a few weeks ago “which one is more accurate”. I personally prefer the placidus probably because that’s what I’m used to, but researching into other systems i don’t believe other systems are wrong. I advised her that there are many systems and versions and it tends to depend person to person. On placidus My sun and mercury fall in the 12 and moon Neptune Uranus in the 8th. Equal house my sun n mercury is in the 11th and my north node, mc and Saturn is now in the 8th everything that was in the 8th is now shifted. It’s all super interesting stuff.

This is true I always relied on placidus after 15 yrs of studying astrology one thing I did after admiring your videos is check my own individual chart to start which really opened my eyes I’m a very very possessive lover I have always notice money is a huge theme in my relationships since I was young ! I married into a very wealthy family my husband is super possessive my Venus is in the 9th house both placidus and whole sign . Equal sign my Venus is the 8th house . Everything in my chart is detached my moon is in Gemini-in the 11 but equal in the 10! Which just shows my such a difference in interpretation! I invest heavy in the market ! I’m excellent with finances or attracting mates with lots of wealth ! Even frieds who are either famous or super wealthy pay such interest in my I never understood why ! My chart makes perfect sense! tried this system with my readings after and just brings everything together with accuracy! Thank you!

The was a dead give away, you said "ease" people use whole sign because its easier. But easiest is not always the most precise. There is some confusion about how placidus become so popular it was not down to it being " more available" it became popular because the interpretations people made we more accurate. Infact the most assessable astrological system back then was the Regiomontanus system

The whole house system puts my sun in the 8th house, which is the only thing that changes from the Placidus system (7th house). I usually use the Placidus system though, as I was born far north (in Canada) and it seems to be more accurate for me.

Yup! I use Equal as my bench mark for the same reasons, but whenever I want to crack my head open a bit, I'll look at other Systems. The path never, ever ends. It's the beauty & the difficulty of Astrology.

I admit, I'm a lil frustrated with the different house systems. When I started looking into my chart, I used Placidus cuz that's what most website have set as a default house system and I didn't really take into consideration other systems. And all the planet/asteroids/points positions rang a bell except one: Chiron. According to Placidus I'm supposed to have it natally in my 3rd house but it just isn't right. Knowing myself and my issues, I instinctively felt that it should fall into 4th house - I have a deep trauma from my family. When I explored the equal house system (I don't want to go to other ones), Chiron felt into my 4th house and it felt like, yes this is it. However the whole chart shifted. Pluto which should be in the 8th house according to Placidus moved to the 10th house and honestly it doesn't apply to me no matter how I look at it. Also I thought, I'm definitely a 8th house person so Pluto should be there but then again, even if in the equal system I don't have Pluto in the 8th, it is heavily activated by the Sun, Venus and Jupiter (they are supposed to be in the 7th in the Placidus system) and so it all kinda rings true. Even though the Pluto in the 10th house is kinda weird to me. But my biggest problem is my moon. In the Placidus it's in the 5th house and that's really me. In the equal sign system it falls into the 6th house and that's in no way me. I can't find myself in no description of the moon in the 6th. So while more or less all the different positions of the planets between the Placidus and equal house system apply to me I have major sore points in both. In Placidus the Chiron in the 3rd doesn't make sense. And in the Equal the Moon in the 6th and Pluto in the 10th don't apply to me at all. So frustrating.

I so agree! I always used Placidus - where my Chiron is in the 3rd - but in WHOLE SIGN my Chiron goes into the 4th which made SO much more sense, too!!! It explained so much and why I could never relate to Chiron in the 3rd exactly... My 12th house planets are still in the 12th in Whole Sign, and I think the house positions make as much sense to me in Whole Sign as in Placidus. Equal sign, however, changes a lot and I don't agree with my stellium being in the 11th -my life has had a definite 12th house theme. Maybe that was from my progressed chart, idk, but I relate so much more with 12th house. For this reason Porphyry also doesn't do it for me. So now I think I prefer Whole Sign charts. For you, does the Whole Sign chart make as much sense as Placidus?

I use Placidus cause with Equal House, all my birth chart changes and i don't recognize my life in the Equal house. I experimented a lot of 8th house stuff in my life. In placidus/Koch i have Pluto/Juno / Lilith scorpio in 8th house while in Equal house i have an empty 8th house... Weird... All people falling in my Scorpio sign arise 8th stuff in my life at a deep deep level while with Equal house it'd be all about 9th house stuff. Ummm nope. It doesn't fit for me. So i don't know how to understand all that mess. It's complicated ^^

Agreed. The equal House System is definitely the simplest yet the most accurate, sensible, direct, reliable, and precise house system. Every House gets equal size and the 4 cardinal points are determined by their degree and do not interfere with the borders of each house. For example, in Placidus the IC is always the 4th House but in Equal system it can be in the 3rd House.

I use choose Placidus when looking at my own chart on astrology sites because that's the default choice on most sites so that just feels "normal" not that much changes if I choose Placidus or whole sign because I'm adopted from Thailand. sites but whole sign/equal houses when looking at my husband and sons charts because of where they were born (Denmark) and Venus in Virgo seems to fit my husband better than Venus in Leo traits - in most instances. Had I been born 15-20 mins. later my houses would've been close to equal even in Placidus. Birth time gives me a 27,5 degrees libra Asc/MC Cancer. A professional astrologer used 4 major life events and insists that moving my birth time 17 mins. later makes more sense (or was more convenient for her?!) but that would give me Scorpio Asc/MC Leo and it's sthe MC in Leo that I can't see for myself but then, I have Saturn in Leo...Either way, my Capricorn luminaries and Merc. will be in the 3rd house regardless and the other planets will fall into the same house in Placidus or whole sign and most of the aspects will be the same - aspect orbs will of course vary. I have some psychological block keeping me from selecting equal houses system for my natal chart. If I ever begin to look at synastry or composite charts, then whole sign system makes more sense. Hm...maybe I just have to get over my psychological block regarding choosing whole sign system for myself.

Personally I use equal house system because I resonate much more with it. In the equal house system they placed pluto In my 4th house which is extremely accurate I'm very controlling when It comes to my family but I don't have a tight connection with home as whole sign system states that Sun is in the 4th house.

I mean, following the equal houses system change some of my planets placements in my partner's houses. For example I had moon, mars and plutoin his 6th house in placidus synastry overlays whereas now they would fall into the 5th house.

I know this is a late comment, but I lean toward Ernst Wilhelm's tropical vedic school of thought. He is the only one that I know of that has provided percentages from actual clinical trials he conducted (surveys really) based on concrete variables using a predictive technique that he'd found to be one of his most accurate in practice. Yours is an opinion I hold at high regard also and value your approach also, so I wanted to ask (if its possible to generalize into a comment ): Why equal house as apposed to whole signs?

Good video & relatable on all, especially trying out systems. Western feels natural, started with placidus, but whole sign catches my attention being event focused. I got books on both placidus & whole sign. Vedic felt really difficult since it involves more than one chart & stepping into a different culture. Interceptions were an interesting concept as well. There is no way whole signs or equal house are correct because a year is not 365 days, having intercepted signs is accurate, astrologers use equal house because it's more simple amd easy but that doesn't mean it's accurate, koch is the most accurate in my opinion

Apparently in equal house my Uranus and Neptune are in 8th and Chiron is in 4th. In whole signs and some others my Chiron is in 5th and my Uranus and Neptune are in 9th and my Jupiter I think is in 7th. I do find myself liking Sagittarius and Jupiter and 9th house types and also Scorpio and Pluto and 8th house types. Apparently I have Pluto in 7th opposite ascendant and Jupiter and north node and Pluto in Scorpio. Different placements seem to fit me. It's quite frustrating ha. I think I'm a Taurus rising in 26 degrees. In whole signs and some others my moon and Venus are in 12th and some say 11th. Some say my Jupiter is in 6th and I'm a pisces sun, Mars and saturn. Sorry for the list 😊

I have trouble with this. I think placidus and whole signs and morinus or whatever and porphyry fit me most. In whole signs my moon and Venus are in 12th and in placidus and I think both morinus and porphyry are in 11th. I think both seem to fit me. And I think porphyry says my Chiron Virgo is in 4th. And placidus and whole signs and maybe morinus say 5th some say my Jupiter is in 6th and some say 7th and I think cusps too. Same with my Venus I think in one house system. I also have Chiron quincunx moon. And I think adrastaeia asteroid in leo in 4th. It sucks. The whole not having just one definitive answer

I prefer Vedic (Sidereal using Equal house system) to Western. Once I got past the "cultural/religious" aspects of Vedic (which I am far from and that alone can be intimidating) I saw how precise, detailed, and the predictions are more accurate than I have ever experienced in Western. Vedic matches my soul. I do agree, there are many systems to choose from-it can be confusing especially if you're just learning how astrology works. The ultimate goal of astrology is to delve into the depths of our own psychology (for personal growth). Why limit your expansion on only one method? In fact, we can see aspects of ourselves in every sign really. People in our existence are the light and/or shadows of our personality whether we like it or not. It's what you take from the encounters that make the perspective a learning opportunity.

If you take your Vedic chart to a Vedic astrologer they would know exactly timing of events that happened in your life. On top of that Vedic astrology is also seen your palm. Western astrology doesn’t even compare and I know both.

Just pick one and go with it for now. When you are advanced enough in your astrological knowledge to understand fully why the house systems are different and how/why they are measuring different things, you will be able to come to an educated conclusion. There is no correct house system. Vedic astrologers are entrenched in their attachment to whole signs. Western astrologers are entrenched in their attachment to Placidus. If you study well you will be able to answer the question of house systems yourself.

Hi Jewel, I have to use Astrodienst for charts. When I click on EQUAL house for my chart my asc. is at 20 degrees of Cancer and it still shows part of Cancer in the 12th and 1st. But, if I click on WHOLE house system it gives Cancer as the entire 1st house. You mentioned you use EQUAL and ONE SIGN for each house. Did you mean WHOLE or am I doing something wrong on Astrodienst? I hope this is not confusing!!

+Cosmosj1 You are looking at two different house systems. The first is equal house and the last is whole signs. Just pick one that works for you and don’t mix them. The ascendant will show up at the same degree regardless of what system you use. What changes is the beginning of each house.

I have struggled with not knowing my houses and put down rabbit holes by good astrologers very good and it really affected my life in a negative way. Right now I am confident with my vedic placements as far as sign ( omg libra rising and libra sun are very different stories lol. Thinking a part of your energy an intergral part is expressed or understood as the wrong energy is very damaging to a persons natural nature. the midheaven point would import midheaven/10th house significations into the house that it falls in if it falls outside of the 10th house. for the 9th house, we would expect to possibly see 9th house matters playing a role in your career/life path in some way. astrologer Rob Hand, for instance, uses whole sign house system and his MC falls in the 9th house. he makes his career (MC) as an astrologer (9th house).

To even claim this is to suggest that astrology isn't a science and is just subjective, woo woo nonsense. The ancients used Whole sign. The other systems only came about because the original teachings were lost.

@@JewelMayberry Actually no, it is in direct opposition to the post modern notion that all truth is subjective and personal. There is a world out that that exists independent from you and I. It was there before we came here and it will be there after we are gone. Regardless of our limited perceptions of that reality, there is only one reality, one set of facts about a given situation.

@@based9930 I don’t necessarily disagree. However, could you explain the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle through that lens? That is -in quantum mechanical physics some elements appear to simultaneously be a wave and/or a particle depending on the viewpoint of the observer. There is no objective reality that it is a clearly particle or a wave; depends on the design of the experiment. Thus, even to experimental physicists so called “objective” truth is in this instance not determinate but appears to have two different, somewhat incompatible, aspects which are both supported by the data. There is an analogy here to the usage of various house Systems.

@@michaelscott7290 The apparent simultaneity of electrons appearing to be a wave and a particle is an illusion. They are always waves. What appear to be particles are ridges on those waves that create an interference pattern in the aether. This is how all matter manifests. The uncertainty principle is the result of a flawed structural understanding and inadequate instrumentation. Something can appear to be different things to two perspectives ( a cube can look like a square to one person and a hexagon to another), but there is still a single underlying reality that is true, regardless of them both not seeing the full picture. If astrology is a real phenomenon, something is actually happening and there is one proper way to model it. Inferior models may give partial results some of the time when they happen to line of properly in part, but they are ultimately wrong.
