Greg the term we use in English is “relative minor.” The way I teach it to kids is that the relative minor is down 3 half steps and the relative major is up 3 half steps.

I wonder many times in Chopin’s variations the changes are so subtle so as that the audience really couldn’t hear it but makes additional difficulties for the pianist to accommodate him, so I think that Chopin does write for the player, to keep him alert, to play with his head and poke a lot of fun. I have noticed a great deal of humor in Chopin’s left hand, am I alone!? I usually always play hands apart initially so that both hands have flowing lines. Thoughts?

I agree, left hand here is very funny and important! And about your first sentence, just you wait a few days for my analysis of Etude op.25 no 4!! There we will have a lot of subtle changes which I'll explain almost exactly like you did it here

Hi Greg! I really appreciate all your videos. You certainly have a vast knowledge about the art of music. I’m currently working on this etude but I’m struggling with fingering. I always try to try out as many options as possible, which is why it would be amazing if you posted a photo or screens of your finger choices. Życzę dalszego owocnego rozwijania kanału - i nie jestem pewna, czy są to życzenia dla Pana, czy dla rzeszy pianistów poszukujących cennej wiedzy w internecie ;)

Prokofiev’s Toccata in D minor, Op. 11!!! Nice to see it mentioned in the video in the context of why “Toccata” isn’t an appropriate title for this etude 🙂

nice vid as always , i wanna ask if i'm too early to learn this chopin etude or chopin etudes , i can only play etude op 10 no 12 untiil the end normal tempo but for the other etudes, i can only play the first page , am i skipping some steps? should i learn easier piece like bach , mozart , beethoven first? i can also play fantaisie impromptu , i learned piano for 1 year with a teacher when i was a kid, then i don't play it for a long time, then i like it again 3 years ago and self taught practice since then.
@gregniemczuk
@gregniemczuk 2 жыл бұрын
Well, frankly I think you should learn something else first, maybe indeed Bach and Mozart....
