A humane live trap would be easy and cheap. A good brand is called Havahart Humane Catch and Release Live Animal Trap. (Anazon has them) You just put a peanut or bit of food in it, prop up the door and it will get caught safely. Glad your Christmas prep is going well. You always brighten my day Pixi. ✨💖✨

I feel for you. 😨This is giving me a flashback! Last year we had the same thing with a mouse that came in through the balcony door which was open, went up the stairs, entered a well lit bedroom and then the chase was on when I spotted him. LOL They are so incredibly fast. He was like a blur. It is very possible the rat went out the way he came in while you were looking elsewhere. I also put humane traps out for the mouse but we never caught him nor did we see him again. Our cat was useless during the whole thing. I love her so much but the only thing she will hunt is a moth or a housefly if she sees it. If it doesn't have wings, she gives it a free pass. I hope your rat visitor decided it was better outside than in. 🙏

Hope you find it Pixi, when I had chickens their food and eggs attracted mice and a possum. I don't have chickens anymore but live next to farm where the chicken goat and cow feed attract mice. My cat like to go to the farm to catch mice. Unfortunately he sometimes brings them into the house and sets them free. Both rats and mice are really attracted to bird seed too. I feel the same. Don't want to harm them but don't want them making my house their home or multiplying.
@thecrapgoth18 күн бұрын
@MichelleBeard-e8i We definitely don't want them in here but I don't want to have it harmed. My husband put down peanut butter and I sprinked fish flame food on the traps too so hopefully if it's here, we find it x

@@thecrapgoth That's what I mean, Pixi, so the story turns a domestic situation into horror or sci fi genre. Could still be a happy ending! Maybe the rat can talk & has useful advice, or the rat's a comedian with a good joke to tell. Or the rat's a union representative voted to approach you about better leisure facilities for rats in the garden. A rat Sports Complex. Or the rats are warring with squirrels & you have to mediate. Endless possibilities!

Omg! I really hope you find it and can sleep. I've heard that peanut butter works best. Put your food in the refrigerator or in thick plastic containers. Even the dogs' food and water. They don't like the smell of peppermint. If you have any peppermint oil, it might keep out of many areas.
