I remember playing this and thinking that "Alma is my mother" was the ultimate cliff hanger. Then the credits finished and I got the call with the senator... oh boy.

I was really hesitant to shoot fettle but eventually I realized I had to and right after I did I was like “fuck I wish I could have gotten more information out of him”. As soon as I walked out I saw the replicant soldiers just standing still and it took like 5 seconds to click that killing him meant no more of them and I was like “oh fuck wait this is a GOOD THING”

After all these years, still no idea whos Wen-Chi Lee Is she the inspiration of Alma? Is the studio trying to tell us what happened to Alma actually happened to Wen-Chi Lee in real life? Is she someone important to the creator? What untold stories are hidden behide this?

2025 The game begins with a call to the senator. A female voice reports problems with the Source: “Riot. Fettel has taken over control of the prototypes." Armacham Technology was a weapons developer with a military program: an army of clone troopers subordinate to a commander who controlled them using telepathy. Paxton Fettel uses his telepathic abilities to take control of a battalion of clone troopers. Fortunately, to stop an armed conflict, it is enough to eliminate the commander, after which the clones will cease to act and will be absolutely safe. And finding Fettel won’t be difficult: he has a sensor implanted in his head that gives away his location. He will not have any protection, one of the conditions of the program is the safety of the commander, he does not fight along with the rest of the soldiers, but only controls them at a considerable distance. The protagonist of the game is a new operative officer “F. E.A.R.”

Okay, so Pointman and Paxton Fettel are brothers. Pointman was born from Alma Wade, meaning Paxton Fettel was as well. Doesn't that mean that Paxton Fettel should actually be called Paxton Wade?

my deduction is that paxton had the same ability from alma and knew what happened to her by sensing that from harlan wade and didn't t want to carry that name besides his name so paxton named himself paxton fettel , he could have chosen another name but he chose fettel , sorry if there is a grammar error in my typing though.

Even if we do not take into account the third part, it still becomes clear from the previous parts that Harlan did not even see his grandchildren in the Prototypes, just as he saw Alma as nothing more than a test subject and a "donor". Pointman didn't get a name at all, because he was a "failure". Alma, Pointman, Fettel and Harlan were of the same blood...but Harlan hardly considered them part of his family.

How do you have subtitles in your game? I'm very confused because in my Xbox 360 version there's no subtitles option anywhere, I've looked a thousand times. I keep seeing people in youtube videos have subtitles, it's really confusing...

I'm not sure, but it's PC exclusive. I had a hard time trying to find it too, and figured out it was on the game tab, right down on the crosshair stuff. It helped me understand this game better since comms dialogue is pretty scuffed.

Hareld wade ( I think his name is called haven't played in a long time) is alma wades father and experimented on her when she was young. When she was 14 she gave birth to the first prototype for project origin which is the main character you play as ( the point man) it is also revealed that she gave birth to Paxten fettle at the age of 16 making him your brother and the seccesfull prototype for project origin.

This is how I interpreted it: Alma Wade was the daughter of Harlan Wade, who noted that in Alma's early childhood, she had been susceptible to awful thoughts and nightmares that hindered her ability to live as a normal child. But a coworker of Harlan Wade at Armacham noted (somehow) that Alma had actually displayed telepathic capabilities and was _very_ sensitive to the negative emotions of others around her. They tested on her, awful tests, things no person should ever do to another human being, and they were being done to her as a child. All in the name of science, so that they could begin to finally understand her abilities and make them stronger and to hopefully benefit humanity via technological advancements unlike anything ever seen before in human history. Alma was then officially referred to as "Origin" and the tests and studies involving her were all part of "Project Origin". As they tested on her, they took note of what worked, and what didn't in terms of enhancing her telepathic capabilities. After a point, they more or less gave up on her and decided that her offspring would be the next logical source of test subjects. Realizing that she was too dangerous even in her current state to be let back out into the normal world, they locked her into a vault two days before her eighth birthday, where she remained for the majority of her life. She was only ever let out of the vault twice, and both times were to give birth to the offspring that would be tested upon instead of her. After six years, they decided to induce labor when she was just fifteen years old. Because, y'know, waiting the extra three years for her to be eighteen would have been a terrible idea in retrospect. But it's not like Harlan Wade or the rest of Armacham at this point was really worried about the morals or ethics of what they were doing to Alma in the first place. Despite this horrible treatment, however, when she realized that she was giving birth, she felt some sort of motherly bond and attraction to her children, and henceforth a motherly sense of protection for her offspring as well. However, as she lay on the birthing table, she saw Harlan taking the two "Prototypes", otherwise known as her children, away from her. Realizing that she would _never_ see them again, she started screaming at the top of her lungs for them to give her back her babies. She screamed so loud and so much that a fluid filled her lungs and induced a coma. They took her back to the vault and kept her on life support, but eventually just decided to pull the plug on her life support. At which point, according to Harlan Wade, she died six days later. The two prototypes had to be extensively trained through their childhood. The same horrible treatment Alma faced. The first of the two prototypes showed no real telepathic capabilities, but after some surgeries, showed promise in having super human reflexes. The second prototype DID show promise for telepathic capabilities. The second prototype wound up being trained by Armacham employee's to be a psychic commander of a battalion of replica super soldiers with intentions of giving commanders in the US military first hand knowledge of the battlefield without putting anything but expendible resources on the line. For whatever reason, he showed much more hostility than the first prototype and was locked in a cell where Armacham assumed that he would be of no danger to himself or to anybody anywhere. That is until he obtained a psychic link with the ghost of Alma wade who seeked vengeance on those who mistreated her and her children through childhood. The second prototype, Paxton Fettel, was all too happy to oblige and help his mother Alma get what would have effectively been her dying wish. The first prototype was quiet though. Generally well behaved, but an absolute killing machine when needed. His reflexes were off the charts, and was then instated into the US Army where he later paired up with a division of the Army brought to life in 2002 to combat paranormal situations known as First Encounter Assault Recon, or F.E.A.R. According to Spencer Jankowski, the other F.E.A.R operative who died almost immediately at the beginning of the game, even stated when told what the first mission would be "This is why nobody takes us seriously. Military clones?" The whole prospect of a supernatural division of the US Army seemed like a joke to people, but it really was just Armacham's "test" for the first prototype, which Paxton Fettel revealed to be the Pointman, the character you play as. Pointman being given his orders, and knowing no other life to live other than following and completing orders, kills Paxton Fettel at the end of F.E.A.R 1 shortly after discovering that Harlan wade had a moral moment of clarity. Wanting nothing but to make peace with Alma, he takes what he recognizes should just be a corpse out of the vault and wishes to make peace with his deceased daughter. But her ghost winds up not forgiving him and literally dissolves him in front of Pointman, before leading Pointman where he needed to go to accomplish his final mission of destroying the underground facility. She even then lead him to the exit of the facility before even revealing herself as being his mother, and clearly stating *_"My baby... I know who you are..."_* It's one of the first stories that made me really think about what it was that I was actually doing. At the end of the game I really found myself asking whether or not I was really the good guy or not. I later decided that I was, and so was Alma. She was just angry and wanted humanity to pay for what they did to her. She did kill some innocent SFOD soldiers in Interval 2, but that was mostly just to aide Paxton in his mission of killing everybody associated with Project Origin. Even killing Jankowski, but leaving Pointman. Jankowski's ghost even stating as well at one point "She's afraid of you..." which fits in perfectly at the end when Paxton tells you shortly before you kill him "You must have sensed it. That she cannot see into your mind, but perhaps you can see into hers." The thought of the pointman holding that rare ability scared her until she realized why. And even though she tried killing you a couple of times (to no avail) later on in Extraction Point, she even goes out of her way to kill Replica soldiers and even tell you that "You're safe now..." But Paxton Fettel just went power hungry, truely one of those people who really just wanted to see the world burn for the hell of it. I think Alma recognized that and even tried to help Pointman stop him once the Project Origin team was eliminated at the end of F.E.A.R in the massive explosion. Sorry if I went on too long, I personally feel like it's a totally underrated story that's ruined by a second and third installment. More so by the third than the second, but I personally don't accept those games as being canonical even if they technically are. I think that F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R Extraction point are the only canonical F.E.A.R games and that we haven't had a true resolution to the series yet.

Btw for fear 3 dayone was forced by Warner bros to make it more like call of duty, dayone wanted Brian lean to write the story for fear 3 but Warner brothers chose Steve Nile’s. Steve sent multiple drafts late in production and because of that his material had to be rewritten again and again, dayone were crunched heavily. And because of that fear 3 ended up the way it was
