Every soldier has their own reason to be at war, but considering that these are men who volunteered for a combat unit, it’s possible that some of the inexperienced are attracted to the idea of killing. But I imagine (and hope) that the majority would volunteer out of their devotion to the cause based on what I’ve seen and heard from CivDiv, an American KZbinr who has volunteered for combat roles himself, including in Ukraine. He gives insight into his thoughts as a combat soldier, and though he cannot speak for everyone in his line of work, I would recommend watching some of his videos if you’re interested in the psychology and experiences of volunteers like him

The Ukrainian military uses yellow and blue (The national colors of Ukrainian) to signify their fighters. The reason is because Ukraine, being a former Soviet holding shares a lot in common with modern day russia. The languages are very similar the native uniforms and weapons are the same. In many ways both militaries appear the same and without these signifiers it is really really hard to tell who is who.

Lol these are volunteers. This isn't troops sent by NATO you child. NATO would absolutely mop the floor with Russia. The only thing preventing that is the threat of nukes. Canadian volunteers consist of hundreds or maybe thousands... If NATO went full force it would be hundreds and hundreds of thousands of troops attacking Russian on every front and would be a steamroll victory. Especially with American Air force involvement Russia would be totally helpless. Even Putin pointed out to a reporter how foolish it would be to drag USA into the war, citing us military spending dwarves Russia's entire GDP. Let alone with dozens of other countreies ontop. Implying Russia's army is effective, or even good in relative terms is just foolishly wrong. Ukraine alone has shown to be a far far more effective army.
