Cracking piece of kit Aapo. I don't know how you've managed to introduce such yumminess to all your disto/clipping algorithms (I bought all your stuff so far) - but I've been using your clipper on every mix and master session since I bought it. Very good indeed. A dist/clipper with added multi band stereo widening would make all the mastering engineers very happy.

I have a question on how it would work if you would want to automate the amount of distortion (without using the mix slider) to make the button in the "small multiband window move in an X/Y axis" to change the dynamic distortion expression. Absolutely love how this plugin looks, great work!
@sixthsample2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Altough mix and drive are controlled with the same control in the GUI, there are still separate as parameters. So if you were to look into the automatable parameters of the plugin, you would find "Mix Low", "Drive Low", "Mix Mid", "Drive Mid" etc. so you can still individually automate them. I hope this answers you question and I understood it correctly. :)
@fiftykents51132 жыл бұрын
@@sixthsample Thanks for answering so quickly. Yes this answers my question, maybe this could be a future update to have an additional slider for the mix and drive parameters just to make it extra simple to make automations.
@sixthsample2 жыл бұрын
@@fiftykents5113 Glad to hear that. I'm curious, how would this make the automation easier? I mean this is a sincere question since I don't know which DAW you are using and what is your workflow. I personally use the "Last tweaked" menu in FL Studio to create automation clips and this works great even though the two parameters are fused into one control surface. Just a small nudge vertically or horizontally is enough to "activate" the correct parameter I want to automate. The surface isn't made too sensitive just for the reason that you are still able to move only the parameter you want to move.
@fiftykents51132 жыл бұрын
@@sixthsample I have a couple of years on FL and i also used the "last tweaked" thing on everything that didnt have the dropdown menu when rightclicking but since a couple of months back I tried Bitwig Studio and absolutely loved it and decided to make the switch. There are a couple of things I really miss from FL. In Bitwig you use automations in a very similar manner as Ableton. You basicly nudge or press the parameter you want to automate and it automatically selects it for you so you can start automating that specific parameter in a track right away. So when i went on to try to nudge the parameter on the "mix" and "drive" function as mentioned above, I was only able to get the "drive" parameter to be selected (I attempted to do what you said to only just nudge it vertically or horizontally but it did not change the outcome). There is a workaround as always to just go into the parameter browser and find what you are looking for and obviously you rarely want to automate those parameters as mentioned above but I think they are a great flavour to use without adding or removing a sound completely. I made a macro for myself to be able to automate those parameters very easly so for me its already solved but i really love to use it on for example reese basses or leads to make them more impactful at times. I very much like how you have made this plugin and im very plesantly surprised after using it and testing it, definetly my new go to distortion/saturation effect and also one of my favorite plugins of all time. Love from Sweden!

@@fiftykents5113 Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me and great to hear that you have found a solution that works for you. I am humbled (or should I say flattered...) to hear that F(l)atter has become your go-to distortion plugin! :)
@croay2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I really like your stuff and been following your work since Deelay, I really like your UI philosophy and been enjoying your latest relases, since I couldn't find a manual I'd like to ask you about oversampling (since this is a distortion plugin), how does F(l)tter manages aliasing?
@sixthsample2 жыл бұрын
I'm happy to hear that! F(l)atter has up to 8x oversampling with the "OSR" slider (oversampling rate). This will noticeably reduce the aliasing effect in most cases. Completely getting rid of aliasing would need an oversampling rate of something that would not make sense performance-wise anymore, so I thought 8x would be a good compromise. :)
