看的時候不覺得她語速快。 覺得她是很想把她和人生fighting逆轉勝的精華， 很快壓縮在15分鐘左右讓聽者瞭解。 （畢竟她寫的書，中文繁體字快500頁， 不是每個人都能讀完。） 那時我讀的時候，印象最深的是 1.如果有覺得重要的事。 不要覺得改天再做。那可能只是拖延。 而且可能就不能做了。 （她很沉痛說了她總是說 「改天再去看媽媽」的例子。） 2.總要去試，挪開障礙， 這裡關門再試別的。 她很大的被拒（社服） 和被接受（紐約時報獎學金）， 都在同一天先後發生。 有興趣者真的要去買她的書（以下是她寫的真實人生，怕被雷到者請跳過）。 她書中說的遠比簡介更震撼！ 因她爸媽長期吸毒， 社服補助一拿到後馬上被拿去買毒。 她和姊一直沒吃飽睡飽過。 她因家庭失能而導致的骯髒外在， 常被師生嘲笑，不喜歡學校，中輟逃家， 進中途之家，爸媽分開、跟媽到新的對象家。 她再逃家、借住各朋友家、流浪睡公園睡頂樓⋯ 低自尊使她遇到恐怖情人， 她驚覺自己開始和媽媽越來越像⋯ 曾有老師同情她，說她是家庭受害者， 她同意了。高中就只拿這1學分。 後來她體悟到「朋友不會幫我付房租」！ 「我不是受害者，只有我能給我人生意義」。 「我的每個決定都和這世界相關」！ （有次她餓到又想在超市偷食物。 但看到努力的每個工作人員，她決定不偷了。 她驚覺原來這樣會破壞那裡的人的信任。） 這些發生在16歲的她終於決定逃離恐怖男友， 之後她去一所學校遇到了好老師。 她看到這些老師面對失功能家庭學生的他們翹課，晚上自己加班打電話關心他們。 眼中看著他們相信他們會成功的神情⋯ 她決定繼續跨欄克服困難， 每天「做選擇」， 決定去上學（那時她居無定所常沒好睡沒得吃）。她說當初中輟，也是原本想翹週一課就好， 慢慢就一週，之後就不去了。 當好老師在她面對哈佛申請， 等回覆很在意時， 告訴她：不管結果如何妳都是妳， 這是人生一小部分。 好老師的部分讓我印象深刻。 她能翻轉父母家族的吸毒、暴力， 也真的了不起。

真的很強! 父母完全沒有盡到任何責任， 教導知識與給予 工具， 通常在這樣的環境長大 可能智商都會有問題， 不然就是變壞， 悲劇一代傳一代。 一般人 大多靠補習功課才有變好， 因為學校的老師根本就是領薪水然後不是很會教， 但是這位女孩 卻能 補上 學業而且超前， 還能進哈佛唸書， 他真的很聰明而且很有自覺 非常 值得讓大家學習， 因為大部分的人 父母的教育都有問題， 然後我們也隨波逐流

She took morning class, night class, Saturday class, Sunday class......every class she can take. And that's how most Asian students did. Probably more than 1800000000 students in Asian study like this or even harder. But her story is really inspiring.

The point is that it is not about the hours put into the classes, but where she came from and the challenges she had to overcome to reach where she is. Many Asian kids are blessed in some sense that parents very often focus on their education and the kids do not have to worry about having a home to stay, getting sufficient food, nor having to take on the parental role to take care of their parents. What is inspiring is not how much she has to study nor getting into Harvard, but the seemingly insurmountable challenges she had to overcome to get there (given the environment she was in) and more importantly, her attitude.
