The attachement straps on the waist strap are for the molle system, which stands for " Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment" and is a military standard. It get's used more and more in the civil section too - for eg with the Lowepro Protactic BP 450 AW II. You find a hughe bunch of accesories for this system for resonable prices... Nice review :-) use mine since about 8 years and am still happy

Nice review, thanks for posting. I just received my Tilopa bundle today. Was wondering if anyone could answer whether or not the ICU interiors are supposed to be multiple colors? My bundle came with a mix of tan interior ICU's and Gray interior ICU's... seemed a little strange.

Wow that harness system looks nice i wish they put that on the ajna series . Instead the harness and hip belt are a little too thin.
@DesmondCheng3 жыл бұрын
yeah same thing with the Lotus. The lotus straps are also thin... Love the Tilopa's thick padding on the straps!

Thanks for the great review, Desy! Could you tell us: is this airline carry-on compatible? And if not, can it be compressed? Thank-you :)!!
@DesmondCheng5 жыл бұрын
its a bit big.. so technically the dimensions make it too big, but it just depends on who sees u, most people won't actually make u measure it. i would suggest just cross referencing the exterior dimensons with what is allowed with ur local airline!
@ravibindra5653 жыл бұрын
@@DesmondCheng @scott The length is 60cm and the max of any airline is 54cm with others being 49cm. The risk you are taking is if they do check it, you will have to check it in ... and there is no way I am putting my cameras in the hold. Your risk appetite might vary. But the question from Scott was "does it compress?"

Placing the hydration compartment right next to the compartment where people keep their $3000 laptop doesn’t seem well thought out to me. And not having a barrier separating the top storage area from the rest of the bag makes it prone to things slipping down and under the ICU. Additionally, not having dedicated Nalgene pockets on side of the bag is a huge oversight considering most people prefer water bottles to water bladders. Add to that the fact that after spending $350, you still have to spend an additional $120 to make it capable of carrying camera equipment, and this bag becomes extremely hard to recommend.

Thank you Jason, those are good points to consider. Do you have any alternative recommendations?

@@Hauptillusionator - I’ve recently been looking into the Mindshift Backlight Elite 45L pack. It seems to have all of the features of the Tilopa, without the drawbacks.

Hi Desy, great video. Can this bag be carried as hand luggage when flying to other countries? Do you need to empty it when passing the security at the airport and then refill it?
@DesmondCheng5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashwin, unfortunately each airport security/airline is different and its also subjective to who the attendant is. From my experience, some will want you to measure it out and some don't care at all. But looking at the physical dimensions, it techinically is oversize for most airlines as carry on

Thanks Desy. This and your other reviews helped me a lot about the characteristics of backpack I needed to buy. I finally bought the Ajna bag.

Some interesting new bags on the market... Peak Design Travel backpack, Atlaspacks Atlas Athlete, and Lowepro Powder backpack 500. Will you be reviewing any of these? I'm interested in how they compare to the Tilopa.
@DesmondCheng5 жыл бұрын
ive used thepeak design travel backpack slightly, its good for travel, but not the same as the tilopa because its not a 'traditional hikers backpack'. i have used and seen the other 2 yet though! But between the tilopa and peak design, I would go peak design
