Have watched this game twice already and, even though my fav player lost, I enjoyed the game all over again. It's a thrill to see such accomplished athletes leaving it all on the court, being fierce competitors and at the same time, being respectful of their opponents and the sport that has defined their lives. Very happy for Akane but Tai still has a lot to give. Looking forward to future matches between these two.

Excellent come back AY, and Congratulations :-) Not narrowing Akane's winner shots ..., but I feel luck was another important factor as I can see several basic shots of TTY went to nets, unfortunate for TTY and good for AY. Akane's stamina has improved a lot, excellent net coverage, sharp shots ... very focused ... all hard work paid off ! One week rest for both, all top seeds need it badly. @KOTheWorld Exactly. Every TTY's fan tried to use "tired" as the reason she lost. They both played a tough 3 games match the day before and AY's match was after TTY's. I like both these 2 players. But I think AY's game plan may have just caught TTY off-guard. I still think TTY will be the favorite next time they play, and the gap is getting closer.

Yamaguchi provides some good ideas as to how to beat the world no 1. But in order to execute the plan, one has to have a monster stamina, as well as effective court coverage, 16.52 , 21.31 & 40.16 shows how Yamaguchi manages to get out of trouble & win points!

@@peacefulangel5124 Yup I agree. they also need to dictate the paced just like how Akane Yamaguchi done here. She has been playing at a very fast paced and it kind a trouble Tai Tzu Ying. The problem with Akane Yamaguchi tactic here is that they need a lot of stamina and physical fitness to outpaced Tai Tzu Ying. Chen XiaoXin and Gao Fangie may be able to defeat Tai Tzu Ying in the world tour but i think that happen because Tai Tzu Ying loss her focussed and rythm badly in that tournament. in French Open Tai Tzu Ying is almost at her top form and for Akane Yamaguchi to be able to return her every shot is not something that everyone can do. As far as i know, only Akane Yamaguchi and Ratchanok Intanon kind a found the recipe to defeat the top form Tai Tzu Ying.

Cayote Lives when the players are not playing any matches, doesn’t mean they can relax & do nothing. They have training programs & it could be tougher because you may have up to 3 sparing partners on the opposite side. They need to maintain their form by keeping on training.
