Cause I grew up in a struck Christian family, we're we never had shorts shorter than our knees or word tank tops out of respect for our elders. I can tell you I dress for comfort, and I don't mind that people mistake me for a guy sometimes cause I don5 blame them. but let me tell you it does hurt a lot sometimes, especially when I'm in the bathroom and people accuse m3 of being a pervert or in the wrong bathroom and make a fuss. or when people assume because I dress more masculine they assume I'm gay or like girls and boys. I find it funny that they always think she's a guy, in America I think that wouldn't happen as much, because Tomboys are far more common, and also in Korea guys are often more "feminine" looking (from a Western standpoint). It's like how a lot of Westerners think guys like Jaejoong are girls, but for those of us who are used to it don't understand how they could think that. XD I think in Korea they're still more used to "feminine" girls, and Amber's tomboyish-ness is more unusual. I honestly think Amber is really pretty! Just in a tomboyish way. She doesn't look like a guy in that her features are more guy-ish (when she wears makeup and feminine clothes she looks way more feminine!!!), it's just her hair and clothing style.

I think she's really pretty just the way she is. :) A girl doesn't have to have long hair and dress "girly" to be beautiful. ^^ I also don't think her voice is like a guys. In America lots of girls have slightly lower voices, so to my ears she sounds normal. Although this is just my opinion! As I said, it honestly just depends on where you are from. :)

The only reason I do not mistake the really feminine ones anymore is the fact that bands are all one gender so if there is one androgynous if you can tell everyone else gender the androgynous will have the gender of the others.

I remember Ella Chen when I think of Amber. Ella Chen's sexuality has been in question a few times because she does not conform to the barbie girl image of a female pop star and has a deep voice (deeper than Amber's in my opinion). I am glad Amber is in kpop to show everyone that being your own beautiful self is never a bad thing even if it defies the dictated standard of the society. She nailed Hana Kimi and in my opinion, TTBY was not at par to it. I still have a copy of the series stored in my PC. 😁 It's one of the very few series I can really watch all over again and have the same feeling like it was the first time. Ella and Wu Chun plus the comical skills of Jiro Wang with the sprinkle of Danson Tang's fab self made Hana Kimi one of the best manga-to-live-action series across Asia. You know what I love about Amber the most. The fact that people tease her about or falsely assume her gender, yet not once does she determine to dress differently or act any different. It happened too much to be coincidental on this show alone but especially when you take other shows Amber was on into account. I think people were told by SM before a show started that it was ok to use that as a gag whenever they wanted, because SM always played on her androgynous clothes & hair style from the moment she was put in f(x). Years later Amber did say outright that it always bothered her when anyone knew she was a woman but still made "jokes" or comments that she was a guy, looked like a guy, was binding her chest to look like a guy, or counted as a guy in games because she was athletic. She said she understood strangers making a mistake, but once informed then the subject should be dropped. The show went through that whole introduction to the town, where they met most of them. Everyone knew the show would only have female singers cause that was the point of the show. It wouldn't be funny if boys came to learn about farming & fishing & such. Yet at least 1 person out of every visitor group just HAD to mistake her for a guy, despite that she's not the only one with small enough breasts that her shape was hidden by those baggy work clothes & winter coats? No, it wasn't a coincidence.
