I think SM knows this about Amber's voice. Just listen Exo's Kai. He has a very nice voice. For example in Lucky or Don't go, when he doesn't rap. Or listen Exo M's Kris in a radio show. He sang Rainbow with Yixing, and he's voice was beautiful. This two guys are rappers, but please they have amazing voices!!! But this is SM... :/

How did they get the name Amber if her names Josephine Liu? and wow she can sing well. I get that they like using her for the rap parts because it suits her androgynous style but at the same time it would be equally refreshing to see Amber singing more and even performing slightly girly songs.
