I'm just so happy that f(x) songs like this one really speaks the truth about modern society, not just limited to South Korea and their beauty standards. After hearing and watching their performance for this song, it just becomes so much more powerful, the aura I felt from their performance even in front of my laptop screen is amazing, and makes me ponder, perhaps it isn't simply only about the overboard beauty standards society imposes on girls to be 'pretty', it may also be about the faults of society as a whole to judge everyone superficially regardless of geographical boundaries. It seems ironic that we are all part of society supposedly being the unique person we are given our different personalities, yet as we seek for betterment of ourselves we have become all the same, at least on the surface. But that isn't true, because if we bother to understand one another, we will find that everyone has their own unique personality. I would love to watch f(x) performing this song in an award ceremony with other k-pop artistes watching haha evil me :)

its really interesting that Amber raps that line, in an interview the studio heads said she was tanned or dark and needed to be fair and she had to try and lighten her skin tone and she hated that. I love f (x) and 2ne1! They are both so incredibly unique and don't really have a certain genre of music they follow. I mean 2ne1 has really sad sweet songs, really in your face songs, techno/hip hop songs, and really pop songs. And f(x) kind of sticks to mostly pop songs, but every once in a while they come out with a song that is so incredibly out there. That's what makes them great.

Okay little babies, I think you don't understand the song, so lemme explain. It's like when 2NE1 came out with 'Ugly'. All over the place, there was people saying: "Why are pretty girls like them complaining they're ugly?" Though, this has an entire different meaning behind it. I think 'Ugly' is more based on a pretty girl thinking they're ugly (but it could be something else). But, 'Pretty Girl' is something totally different. f(x) is talking about how, we all know this, how K-Pop is so simple. They all have the same concept, or just people in general. Either you are cute, girly, feminine, or you are badass and sexy. But, we all know f(x)'s concept isn't just _one_ thing, right? This is talking about how Koreans and such all look the same, they all follow the same beauty standard. Red lips, pretty legs, and the pretty little princess, that's what Koreans go for. But, f(x) thinks they are 'Wicked Witch of the West' (I think it was worded wrong but whatever) because they don't have that concept, they don't follow that standard. Maybe Sulli and Krystal, _maybe_, but Amber is a tomboy, so she definitely isn't your average girl that lives in Korea, right? Luna has her strong legs and her dark skin, so she doesn't follow the standards because Korean girls are usually pale and delicate, they don't have a lot of muscle. Victoria is Chinese, so that is already a beauty standard fault in Korea. Even in K-Pop, people look past Victoria because she's Chinese. They think the other members are beyond pretty, but don't count VIctoria because she's Chinese. The same thing happens in miss A. I think this is also directed towards SM, in a way. When they say stuff like: "I look like a witch compared to her, and nobody pays attention to me." Meaning how SM pays more attention to their other girl group Girls' Generation (at the time Red Velvet hadn't debuted yet) and because of their unique concept, SM doesn't see f(x) because Girls' Generation concept fits better to Korean fans. It surprised me, first listening to this song. I instantly knew that this was directed a bit towards SM and their lack of attention towards f(x) (no hate on SNSD though), even though it wasn't written by a f(x) member. I don't think f(x) would do something so bold, _maybe_.

Kyle Kruger Kinda what I meant... I said it was worded wrong (on my part). They are called the Witch, but that does't mean they take it. Of course, they can't do anything on SM's part, but they show the general public (both K-Fans and I-Fans) that they are, in fact 'special' because, yes, they are 'witches' but they can actually show that they don't need what other groups have, they are 'special' which was kinda what I meant.

Am I the only one who thinks that when describing the "pretty girl" they were naming characteristics/traits each member has....? For sulli she sings "red lips, hips and legs" which she's known for, For Victoria she sings "the victorious goddess smiles" maybe it's a pun for her name..
