This problem I found it when I was young when I watched USA tv drama “Cheers“, “ friends” I found it mostly happened in USA only. In Britain they would pronounce the ‘t’ sound when slow and can’t 普通話「看」big difference with can. Now I don’t bother to learn the correct pronunciation because we are not native english speaker ( or not American ) and it is very very very difficult to learn. So, to solve it just simply ask whether you said *“ can or cannot ? “* and that is. Furthermore, we learn english may not speak to British or American people (not to mention pure english surely not spoken all over the nation by every citizen (meaning not unified ) various accents exist. Thus I found when 2 or more people, non native Americans, having conversations with heavy accents, the most important point is to listen to the whole sentence first and to figure out what is the most possible, make sense and logical words they said.

peta abay very useful tips and insight! Thanks for sharing Peta :)
I think people who do speak Chinese can pronounce ‘can’ better than other Asians 'relatively'. I use ‘cannot’ rather than can’t when I talk in English. (even though, I guess, there is a difference between them.) It would be useful for everyone to make a video about the difference between ‘can’ and ‘be able to’ someday. Enjoyed your video and thanks :)
