glad to see that even high-level players mash the spin button like crazy when the spin isn't even close to being off cooldown, gives me hope for myself

Notes for myself- Mute City III- identical to all my mute city attempts that are any good. No notes. Time is 1:59 Death Wind II- The skyway is basically worth a few ranks or seconds only, as I suspected. Using it on the straight section is correct, as suspected. Where there are no boosters is optimal, over the rough. Mengsk is using the left shoulder button to slide into the first booster and that's an improvement I need to make since I miss it half the time by oversteering or understeering manually. After first skyway, if near the front don't bother dropping back to collect more sparks, just outdrive. Save three boosts for the very end, don't gas out like always. Time is 2:12 Port Town II- Saving the skyway until just after Port Town I magnet section ends extends the skyway all the way past the curve, which is free speed and lower risk. I've been triggering it too early. Lap 2 looks optimal. Boost was used on magnetic section on lap 3 like I do. Small optimization in the zigzag section seen on lap 3: wait to pull the trigger on the second boost until after the first zigzag, greatly lowers the chance of pinballing. Lap 4: Trigger not pulled on booster until magnet section, which looks a lot safer given the red bumpers. Boost used in zig zags, 2 boosts used before end of race. Time is 2:33.5 Red Canyon II- First zigzag section, shoulder buttons are used, speed drops to near 400kph. Sparks are not prioritized, being near the front of the pack is. No booster usage after the zag, before the straight section. Tough turns taken at 430kph with minimal stick motion, shoulder buttons appear to be used briefly. Much reduced chance of crashing this method. Spark collection strategy begins in earnest lap 2, no booster usage until meter is 2/3 full, before the gap. Leader is visible but distant, second booster used to begin closing gap to leader before the pit area. Skyway meter fills just in time for the first zigzag skip strategy, with almost no margin for error. Skyway is long enough for one free booster and cuts more than half the distance to the leader. Lap three tough turn section, speed drops to below 400kph and the sideways slide motion is favored while boosting to clear the wall. At this point the strategy is to boost and front run the race. Boost used in pit region, boost used after zigzag section, boosts used after tough section is cleared. Time is roughly 2:19 Lead is 28 points going into Fire Field, worth placing 7th in fire field and still being able to win if my calculation is right. Fire Field: Boost is used at start, pretty much forced. First turn, shoulder button plus letting off the gas is used. Speed drops under 400 to avoid contact. Second turn, gas tap turn drops speed surprisingly low, well under 200. Speed recovery seems to happen without boosting due to contact from vehicles behind mengsk. Second hairpin is taken at 200 with shoulder button. No boost to return to top speed after the hairpins, recovers to near top speed before the ice section. No boost used to get through magnetic section? Pit area afterward taken at roughly 400 kph constantly to return to near full health. Before lap 2, golden bumper appears on the right, as far back as 10th place. So, the lack of boosting on lap 1 can be attributed to a skyway strategy. Note Mengsk does not fill the meter, deliberately seems to get it near full but couldn't be accidentally triggered, to keep manual boosting available. Lap 2: Does not boost during the long straight section. Takes first turn under 400 to avoid contact. Second turn, drops to around 250 to avoid contact. Again, speed recovers due to vehicle behind Mengsk colliding to push, so no boost needed here either. Speed rises to 400 for first hairpin, drops to 250 after second hairpin. Expected boost actually does happen here to recover past maximum speed immediately after the hairpin. Speed drops to 400 for the S section before the ice. Expected boost for the magnet section does get used. Pit section taken at roughly 400, does not fill. Skyway meter fills due to collision sparks from players in rank 1-9 ahead of mengsk near the pit and magnetic section. Lap 3: With skyway meter full, no boosting is used. Red bumpers make second turn very hazardous, Mengsk simply drops speed for the turn as normal and is careful not to collide. If no one is there, the outside (righthand) side appears to be the safest after the turn. Mengsk slowly regains speed until first hairpin, half-completes the turn before pulling trigger on skyway. Health is still in the green section. Skyway skips all the bad turns and lasts over 7 seconds, puts Mengsk near the leader enough that one boost would make up the difference. 4th place, no booster used in the magnetic section? Speed slightly drops to 430 for the pit area but rank much more important than a sliver of health, so less time is spent in the pit on this lap than any others. Lap 4: Mengsk wins while in 5th place so he doesn't really have to do anything, but it might be required for me to boost during the straight section as there's no way I have a lead this big in points. Health is very much in the blue here, so unless all the boosts get used later, this is a possible improvement. Boost used after first turn, this clears the others and puts Mengsk in first place. Boosts used after each turn strategy probable. Second turn, bump into turn strategy is used to clear the turn as fast as possible, sacrifices some health. Note, Mengsk also hits a red bumper here, and I probably can't afford to tank that, so my difference would be not doing the bonk turn and then boosting after safely clearing the red bumper that appears here for the race leader. It's difficult to avoid at full speed for sure. If someone were to pass me here, they're likely hitting it, and I've got boosts available. Probably where I deviate. Boost is used to regain speed and pass the rough. Rivals are right on Mengsk's ass in this section. First hairpin is taken starting at 460, steps off the gas and shoulder button leans into the turn. Second hairpin begins at 350kph, drops to 250, boost is used once clear. This drops Mengsk to red health but comfortable. A single red bumper or moderate collision with the walls won't kill him. Red bumpers near the ice S bend seem trivial to steer past even as the race leader here. Expected boost through the magnetic section does happen here, which is risky! Mengsk has such a lead that this boost is not at all necessary. The boost combined with a lean away from the magnet, plus straight driving, going on the right hand side where the magnet actually pulls you away from the red bumper on the far right, allows some collision with the magnet without dying at the end. Take the inside of the final turn going at a natural speed and the final bumpers are trivial to bypass. At that point, dry boost if needed to prevent a KO. Strategy ends the race with Mengsk in first place with quite a safe lead. I might not be so lucky. After all, I'm not Mengsk, so Mengsk might be there to KO me just before the finish line. Maintain proximity view throughout, since there's only one skyway and only one place to use it, knowing exactly where the leader is doesn't matter on this map. Time is 3:04

@@MengskGX I was able to be tied for rank 1 as fire field began, thanks to this. I crashed out, mainly because I've driven Fire Field like 9 times total, ever. More practice is needed but, all it really took was the guy with a perfect score crashing out in red canyon and I was the first place guy. Now to not crash myself! I've never been closer to an actual win on any grand prix. Thanks for showing us how it's done. I was in like 4th place in the race on the final lap when I died, so I wasn't totally sucking on fire field either! I missed the gold bumper lap 1 because I forgot but I saw it on lap 3 and bumped it My times and ranks weren't as good as yours but it was good enough for first... until I didnt execute fire field like you did, or anywhere close. 750 points is still better than zero! But that's something I can fix with practice. Muchos gracias from "Waluigi#1"

@@MengskGX 1'58'26 2nd place Mute City III 2'14'20 9th place Death Wind 2, 2nd in the prix. 2'40'70 22nd place Port Town 2, 4th in the prix 2'21'00 3rd place Red Canyon 2, 3rd in the prix. 3'09'30 8th place Fire Field, 3rd in the prix. If I hadn't ate total butt on Port Town by pinballing, I might have had that one. That's twice I came close, and the first time I podium'ed King league. I've done much better times on all of those races too, that whole prix felt like below my average. I bet you I beat every time except Mute City III on my next attempt, those were so bad. 912 points, most I can pick up is on port town and I hate that track but I can perform well on it. So that's the goal.

Honestly? I think of all the tracks, Death Wind 2 looks like it's the King setter of the King League. Cramped spacing width wise, being relatively early on, the high winds and all those tight turns, it's easy even for a seasoned driver to drop down several tens of tanks if they mistimed their boosts or if they don't use their Super Sparks at the right time. But if you're able to get a high placement on DW2, as long as you're competent with all the other tracks, you're pretty much golden and will place well, if not outright being in First.
@trogdortamer48
@trogdortamer48 Жыл бұрын
Best place to boost on DW2 is any place that doesn't have the boost pads. They don't stack with regular boosts, so you're actually wasting boost while going over them. You want to use your boosts in the section just before the finish line when the pads disappear. Use them to go over the rough patches. For the F-Lap, you do want to find gaps between the boost pads, however.
