@@schizophrenic_rambler It's because the games in the 1990s evolved with their limitations, and the choice between making a game on Genesis or Super Nintendo wasn't console market share or gambling on which would be more popular, it was the strengths and weaknesses of their hardware. Want a graphics and sound intensive game? Super Nintendo. Want an extremely complex game that needs a lot of CPU usage? Genesis. Multi-platform games were a lot rarer, simply because a lot of the time developers needed something that wasn't on one but was on the other.

The ability of the N64, PlayStation, and Saturn to run 3D engines with full polygons changed the way their games were played compared to the SNES and Genesis, while ray tracing just makes shadows look better.

F Zero 99 uses 11khz audio samples whilst the original game uses 32khz audio samples. Listening to the original after hearing F-Zero 99 is like muffling your ears and then taking your hands off the ears
