FIRST TIME I COME ACROSS Fuzhou chechang. I notice some DIFFERENCES WITH MINJU AND FUZHOU PINGHUA -che chang has TALKING only at the beginning -it is quite short in duration compared to Fuzhou pinghua which can last hours. - the background music 🎶is soothing and not so noisy as Minju as there are no cymbals and drum. STILL I THINK IT IS COOL 😎 THANK YOU.

I know 閩劇 Minju and 評話 Pinghua. What is Che chang?

@@fd2361 SO THIS CHINESE CHARACTER WITH "renzi pang" IS READ "chi," NOT "che." SHARE WITH YOU WHAT HAPPENED. I had never come across this perculiar Chinese character before, so I tried checking online. But came out with 0 result. Meanwhile, I constantly hear in Fuzhouhua as "chie-yong." While the second Chinese character is the usual word "chang" in Pinyin meaning "to sing," I simply had no idea how to read the first character in Standard Chinese. In fact, UNTIL TODAY, I still have no idea WHAT THIS CHINESE CHARACTER stands for, its meaning. Anyway, after I failed to find the Chinese character online, I tried, and tried and tried to find in my phone📱 e-Chinese dictionary then. Eventually, I found it there under the Pinyin sound of "che." Even now, my phone📱 e-Chinese dictionary lists this unusual Chinese character under "che," not "chi." THANK YOU 😊.

@@joyceching6487 伬 may only exist in Hokchiu/Hokchew/Foochow language now. It means "to entertain by singing and playing musical instrument simultaneously." Official standard Mandarin simplified thousands of Chinese characters and cut using many rarely used characters, so Pinyin does not take in 伬 as type-able character. In Hokchiu, it is /cie cuong/ or smooth /cie juong/ or linked /cie-luong/. Are you overseas Hokchiu? Speak Bang-ua 平話/福州話? I grew up watching a few Min-Ju 閩劇 and Ping-Hua 評話 but rarely watched 伬唱. So, it is reasonable that you did not know Mandarin /chi/ for 伬 since it is not included in Pinyin system.
