Fushimi Inari Taisha, located in southern Kyoto, is the head shrine of the thousands of Inari shrines scattered throughout Japan. It is dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice, commerce, and business. The shrine is famous for its Senbon Torii, the thousands of vermilion torii gates that create a network of paths leading into the wooded forest of the sacred Mount Inari.
The shrine’s origins date back to 711 AD, and it gained popularity among merchants during the Edo Period (1603-1867) as a place to pray for prosperity in business. This led to the widespread construction of Inari shrines across Japan
