F1 2022 Old Hockenheim (1966) | Sebastian Vettel Onboard | Assetto Corsa

This is an F1 onboard lap at the old Hockenheimring used in 1966-1969 before the addition of the chicanes along the straights. Often considered one of Formula One's classic circuits, this bumpy track had a fantastic view as it ran through the forest. The last sector of the circuit looks almost identical to how it is today, apart from a few changes.
This Formula 1 hotlap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Sebastian Vettel in the F1 2022 Aston Martin AMR22 tractor.

Well... Personally, I didn't like Hockeheim with your Black Forest section. Basically was just a circuit with big straights and a nice stadium section without another nice sections. Someone probably hates me now, but I prefer the Hockeheim current layout. 😬

@@markdemars7648 No porpoising is specificly the car bouncing because the downforce created by ground effect is inconcistend and bounces the car up and down depending on how much downforce is being created

@@TygQ2 no porpoising is when the ground effect (aerodynamics) suck the car to the ground and as it gets the closer the pressure builds and builds until it stalls and the front rised up and pressure (downforce) is lost then the cycle repeats but the cars are going so fast that it happenes rapidly so they appear to be bouncing

The pre 1966 version of the track doesnt have the stadium section. Overall the are 2 older versions of the track but i never seen in any game.

Its simply was an oval just check the corner before you go into the stadium the run off area exist of asphalt so it means that that part of the track is connected with the start finish section however they put a wall in between so racers would legally avoid to go straight on You can still analyse it on todays hockenheim

I just watched a few of these old circuit recreations on your channel. As much as we wish the old times back in racing, Spa, Monza, Hockenheim and large parts of the Nürburgring are just long straights or high speed parts with a few corners to get back to the starting point. It was sure hell of exciting back in the 1930s, these would be boring with modern cars until something goes sideway, in this case: into the woods. I know we're still racing Le Mans and the Nürburgring in pretty archaic layouts, but the fascination doesn't necessarily stem from exciting racing (imo), it is just the danger and sheer madness of driving around such tracks for 24 hours - modern F1 is totally different, if there's no action for 15 minutes, you already fall asleep.

This will not be the layout used in the championship, the one with chicanes will be (2001 layout). Also there will be no DRS because DRS does not work in Assetto Corsa, so I turn it off completely.

In 1970 I attended my one and only grand prix at Hockenheim on the old course. It was the very last race Jochen Rindt ever won in F1. Two weeks later Rindt went to Monza, in Italy, and was killed in a fiery crash. Rindt had enough points after the Hockenheim victory I saw that he became the only F1 driver ever to win the world title posthumously. The irony is that when I went to the GP at Hockenheim there was a small chicane about 3/4 of the way down the first long straightaway (it's not shown in this animation) where I watched from because it was right across the track from where two years earlier Jim Clark's car left the track hit some trees, exploded, and killed him as well. It was a huge course by any standards and one can only imagine the speeds today's F1 cars could achieve on the two long straightaways. The closing off of Hockenheim into a shorter course was to allow for safety upgrades and to keep the F1 cars speed down.

Shame the Hockenheimring turned into the characterless mass of hairpins and S-turns we've been knowing for the past 20 years. No matter how interesting the races can/might be in this track, I always skip it for some more interesting tracks like Monza, Imola, Spa, Silverstone, Suzuka, COTA, Interlagos and the Nürburgring GP Strecke. And these are literally the only few tracks I'm interested in watching the F1 races on them. All the others are simply characterless hodgepodges of hairpins and S-turns and I skip on them for the exact same reason I skip the Hockenheimring.

Is it difficult to mod Assetto Corsa Competizione? I feel like if you can mod the F1 tracks and cars into ACC it would be a lot better for the fantasy championship. Actual damage when they crash, better AI maybe, and better graphics. I'm sure there's a reason why you stick with AC, and not ACC. Just curious.

AAC use unreal engine 4 and since it's not the kuno engine they don't provide any tools to mod the game. So modding the game is impossible. Assetto corsa use kuno own engine so they could provide the tools and documentation about how making mod.

It's really bumpy. I have the same track mod, and I can tell you that is a smooth suspension setup right there, I've experienced much worse on this track.
