Max 4WDC and 2WCC Lewis 7WDC and 10WCC Max will win titles even when he doesn’t have the fastest car Lewis needs the fastest car to win a title - except for 2008, his only hard fought WDC. Max beat Lewis in 2021 when Merc was the faster car and won the WCC. Lewis has records that reflect his years in the fastest car - most wins, most poles, most podiums, most wins are one track. Max holds records that reflect how much better he is than other drivers. Most consecutive wins, most consecutive poles, most wins in a season, most wins from different grid positions, youngest driver to win a race, most time spent as WDC leader, biggest gap between 1st and 2nd, most laps led in season, most points in season. Records that are driver related. Lewis is a great, one of the goats. Max is the greatest, a lion that’s eating these goats one by one.

As great as Lewis, Schumi, Senna and Alonso is/was Max has put. clear daylight between him and the rest of the usual GOATS. I never had the privilege of seeing Clark and Fangio compete but as high as I always rated Senna, Schumi and Lewis - I think Max is clear of all of them! Schumi can challenge Max when it comes to consistency but Max is more talented and is always willing to put it all on the line. Senna is probably has the most natural ability and raw talent and speed but lacks the consistency in a race. I’ve said this for a long time, bit Lewis knew that Max was going to get a car to be able to challenge him eventually and in 2021 Max showed how seriously special he is. I mean Vettel as a 4xWDC in 2017-18 was outclassed by Lewis because he is not as talented as the other aforementioned. I honestly believe that Max is the greatest and most naturally talented driver we’ve seen in F1!

@ I feel like Max is in such a proverbial position of power that he is an exemption to the norm in the sport. And Max is never going to change his approach like Lewis tried with him in 2021 by undermining his experimented of never having fought for a WDC and what’s at stake. Leclerc probably present the biggest threat in terms of his ability and abundance of talent, but lacks the mental fortitude and consistency. Russell is a tough stubborn but to crack but doesn’t possess the skill or ability to deal with Max’s.

@@jusufsahiti4367 and if Ferrari really hinders aspirations of winning a WDC after 20yrs there is only one driver capable of doing that - that’s Max. If Ferrari builds a dominant car similar to the Mercedes of 2014-2021 then Lewis stands a chance obviously but if the 4 big teams are relatively close then Max is the ONLY guy with the talent, natural ability, bulletproof mindset, courage and total commitment that can get do that.

@@Arnaud58 I like Vettel but the fact that he won so many WDC’s during RB’s dominant reign is actually a bit embarrassing looking back. I mean his legacy as an all time great was severely tarnished by Ricc in 2014 and then again by Leclerc in 2019-20. It doesn’t matter how successful you are the bonafide all time greats like Alonso and Lewis know this. Alonso even mentioned in an interview in 2013 that if Vettel goes to a 2nd/3rd best team/car and is nowhere then all those 4 titles will look so bad in the future. Vettel is and never was on the elite level of Alonso, Lewis and even Kimi in terms of ability and talent. Vettel last 2 seasons with AM he was not even considered a top 10 driver and let’s It forget that he is younger than Lewis and Alonso by 3/5yrs respectively. Drivers like Hill, Villeneuve, Button and Rosberg only won 1WDC so they will never be in that elite level in terms of success when applied to Vettel.

@@Arnaud58 Vettel is probably the biggest overachiever in F1 history! Not long ago he was the 3rd most successful driver in history but he wouldn’t make a top 20 greatest driver list ever. Alonso and Kimi are far superior to him yet they never achieved what he did and that will always be a blemish on his legacy. As far as Max goes, he is the only driver that I’ve seen operating and consistently performing in a different realm altogether than all the greats bar Senna, Schumi and to a lesser extent Lewis. Max might not have the pedigree of a Lewis or Schumi but he has definitely surpassed them in terms of his performance ceiling. What I’m saying is that Vettel is a very average driver that doesn’t really possess anything special or anything great.

Not quite as bad as Schumacher because the 2021 debacle was not of his doing but he will always be tainted by it. And in the following season how can a car be between 1 and 2 seconds a lap quicker than the rest of the field? Very, very questionable.
