The reason why Fernando is happy for Ocon is that, unlike most of the drivers now in F1, Ocon has no background. From Wikipedia: While competing in karting, his parents had to sell their family home, which included his father's garage, to fund his karting career. After selling the house, they lived and travelled to races in a caravan Ocon also used as a motor home.

What surprises me is Alonso fought knowing he's got older tires, and a car that is way slower than Hamilton's. The remaining McLaren (which is probably the hardest car to overtake) and Red Bull were damaged, and the rest of the cars were at least a second slower. The real reason Lewis didn't win was Alonso somehow keeping him behind, despite Lewis having a 3s pace advantage at the time
