If you saw when his jumping ability was tested, his straight up vertical is just average (although he wasn’t able to use his arms to propel himself which slightly skewed the results). However when he was allowed to take a step and jump (using his arms) he jumped slightly higher than the average NBA player. So if say Ronaldo 6’2” faced a player who was 6’4” and jumped with only vertical, he could lose the aerial battle, depending on the other players vertical ability of course
