Nightshade's notes: I've had a few requests for a mafia girl audio, but I wasn't really finding any scripts I felt that fit my vibe. I wanted to do something that you don't see very often, something that goes against the stereotype. Something grittier than the polished image of sexy men in suits and beautiful but spoiled princesses. So! I contacted Timeraft, the master of subverting tropes, and sure enough, they already had some very cool ideas percolating in their brain. The result of that request is this script, which is everything I was hoping for. ❤️

I love a Good 'Retired Monster'. She just sounds so Tired. Like in a good way. She reflects back on it all not with pride but not with outright shame either. She just knows it happened and one day after she walked into a bar she owned and it's all she's got. She's wasting the days away, not quite and empty husk, but she still sounds Dry and Somber, while still a bit hopeful. Great audio. Maybe a part 2 on the way?

This really struck a chord with me. I've met lots of ex cons either through family or youth support systems when I was younger. The way she talks reminds me of the ones who really helped me. The ones who truly understood and learned from their mistakes and just want the people around them to avoid doing the same. Especially how you put a sort of tiredness to her voice when she started talking about it. This was incredibly well done. Also just putting this out in the universe I hope those people found peace in their lives and can be happy with how far they've come. They were the ones I truly respected as a kid and still do. Side note I hope this gets continued and she can find some reconciliation with her father. That part was similar to something I've heard before and hit me in the feels.

Hehe, all it says in the script at that point is "listener does not deny it" and I absolutely love the sheer awkwardness of that moment and how Timeraft does not shy away from that at all. Like yeah, it's awkward, life is awkward, let us embrace this moment where the truth comes out and everything this woman thinks she knows about the situation is upended, and it feels so surreal to her that a laugh comes out of her before she can even think. She's not polished or perfect and she's definitely not going to say the right thing, but that's what's great about her. She's real. And I think it's great, because just that silence on the listener's part changes everything for her. Nothing is what she thought, and it brings hope back into her voice. Mafia girl audios are popular but not my favorite because they personal make me uncomfortable. I think I've always had a fear of sociopaths and people with such a lack of empathy that they could kill with ease. But the woman in this one is ex-mafia and actually remorseful, understanding what she did was wrong. She sounds lovely and even irl I think I'd actually consider it. Nightshade you did well voicing her 😊

Part of the reason I decided to commission a script if I was going to try my hand at a mafia character is because I'm not super comfortable with sadistic characters, and you get a lot of that with mafia scripts. I don't generally enjoy portraying bad people. Flawed people, yes, people who make bad choices, yes, but people who have good hearts at their core. Well, I suppose sometimes I push that envelope (*looks at dragon queen audio*). But I think I get you. I'm glad you were able to enjoy this one. Thank you.

Hmm. I appreciate the feedback, and I will keep that in mind, because I do want to learn and grow. But I would like to be honest with you - I think this particular issue may be just a matter of where I draw my lines and what I'm comfortable with. What I mean is, not being authoritative is a deliberate choice on my part. I'd even go so far as to say that I often deliberately soften those parts. The Encounters with a Villain series is an example of that; I will record and re-record lines until they are as gentle as I want them. Even in the dragon queen audio, I think I've pushed it exactly as far as I want to. Any farther, and it would no longer be a script I'm comfortable with, and I would not have performed it at all. I will listen to it again, and I will keep your words in mind, but in the interest of being completely honest, I feel like I should say, when you're looking for authoritative, you will probably do better with another ASMRtist. It's just not the experience I'm after. And I hope you will understand.

Hey there! Sure, I enjoy playing fdom characters, but I also enjoy playing fsub characters, and I don't really have a preference between them. I will say, though, that when I do either doms or subs, everything has to be clearly consensual. I do have other fdom audios and series. The first one to come to mind is the Mad Dragon Queen Xayd (A Queen in Chains series), but there are plenty of others. Most of my characters are supernatural in some way, so I don't have any other older human ladies, but plenty of demons, vampires, etc that are much older. It was a dingy little bar. The walls held dim photos and old beer advert signs. They say Al Capone beat a guy within an inch of his life in here for messing with one of his collection guys back in the day. A few shady characters played a hand of cards at a back table, laughing and joking harshly as they played for match sticks. The phrase “fuggedaboudit” came to mind at their casually brutal appearances. Just another hole in the wall dive…but she made it better. She came out of the back room just then, lugging a case of Molson longnecks. She was older, yes…but there was just something about her that stuck in your head. Was it her smile? Heyyo Timeraft here! That part with the chips is based almost word for word on a conversation I had! I'm from a prison city (that new Jeremy Renner show is actually based on my hometown) and those chips were kind of a cult item where I was. I worked with a guy that did time and he'd gotten his hands on some. (I'd always wanted to try them, but they only sold them at this one store on the badder part of town and they usually sold out real quick) they're really gross to me, but I totally see how somebody deprived of sensation would totally dig them

Yeah, she's not that old. I guess I'd probably place her between 37-43, in my head? I kind of like to leave it up to the listener's imagination, depending on how old they'd like to imagine themself as and how much of an age difference they want. But I think comparing herself to the listener makes her feel even older, so that's why she talks about herself that way. That, and the nature of her life probably makes her feel even farther away from them in terms of experience. But late 30s- early 40s is not old.
