Many people know this, but very few know why. Do you 👀? Answer: in art (and in printers), colors work by substraction whereas light works by addition. Art is literally the opposite of the light because we see colors based on what's reflected. If you combine pigments of all colors, you'll absorb the light of all those colors and nothing will be reflected; we'll see nothing, i.e. the color black.
