Very poor thing. A food for mirage 2000. Its either a poor radar or poor electronics, this thing cannot lock onto anything, which will get you killed A LOT. Every single game will be 13.0 with almost no exceptions, you WILL be facing Su27s, F16s and F15s every single game, and even aim 120 on something like a harrier or F4 german. Best US premium, but very poor overall unfortunately

That’s BS! Make sure to switch to SRC PD for all aspect shots instead of SRC HDN (head on) PD! Also, when not paying attention and assuming you are below them, use SRC! Hope you have been finding success!

@Truck_Company_84 great strategy on paper, poor in practice, enemies will not conform to your radar and position themselves to your liking, and will not be able to position yourself either, because you are slower than them.

​@Truck_Company_84 What? The F-4S definitely does not have an all aspect PD mode, only PDV HDN and regular look-up modes. That being said the PDV HDN mode has excellent performance in the head-on, better than even PD radars in that aspect and should be the main mode for firing AIM-7's. If the opponent turns to notch or goes cold the AIM-7F is not going to connect anyway. Using HMS/ACM is the basically the only time standard look-up may be better because it's only used at closer ranges and the beam is concentrated, so it can still usually pick up targets through ground clutter long enough to auto switch to PD HDN if needed to maintain the lock.

That’s ok, with my controls the throttle are shift for up and control for down, all preference tbh but the shift/ctrl throttle, while a bit to get used to, was worth it

@@ELX987 i think most if not everyone has your throttle controls ( they are by default like that iirc) and was saying i might be the only weird mf (i also press shift with my thumb)

For the love of good, don’t take bombs with you in Air RB, this will get you killed. The F-4S is such a good airframe, it has the best Wing slats of all F-4 variants a great radar set for 12.0 and the second strongest SARH-Missile in the game, and also a radar gun sight. Try to force jousts (except against anything that carries R-27ERs, you will loose that engagement). If you miss don’t turn, get at least 10km distance and then try again. The AIM-9H is better than its reputation, it has more range than the USAF variants and can be easily launched 3.5-4km away from the target.

I state the bomb gameplay as it’s important to know all avenues people can do with such a jet as this, it is intended as a multipurpose aircraft after all. But I do agree the airframe is really capable, so using it as just a fighter is effective as well.
