Self ip will come in picture always because it's same concept like SVI which means ip assigned to interface. It's like below interface assigned to vlan and vlan is assigned to Self Ip

Is there a private IP or IP's mapped to the VIP's public IP internally on the F5 device (not the Node IP's), for the communications between the VIP and the corresponding Nodes for its internal operations?

are you talking about communication between F5 and backend server. In this case its generally connection between client and server.

Thanks for the quick response.Yes Internal communication.While VIP would be used to reply to queries externally , internally would it be F5's internal IP and the internal pool server's. In that case how is the public IP of the client retained ,Is it via X-Forwarded-For (XFF) .

@@simonselvin1 see if snat is not enabled then internal server can see client ip because session would be from client to F5 and client to server and if snat is enabled then xff would needs to be enabled to see true client ip if server team wants that

I have a question for below scenario, suppose if I I access with this url xyz.com:1164/xyz and I have virtual server with http port and pool member with 1164, still the user can access with above url?

You are saying your vip is configured on port 80 and your server is configured on port 1164 correct if that's case it will not work .You need to create vip with port 1164 and profile http then it will work
