My Dyson V6 has been pulsating on max for a while so I could only use it on low. I almost threw it away and bought another brand, but I thought I would check You Tube and I am glad I did! Another video I watched first showed me how to clean the long blue center filter. But your video went even further and showed me how to get into the long blue filter as I was having huge chunks of debris coming out of it and couldn't figure out how to get inside the filter. Thank you for a very thorough video. I just washed the filter now I am going to take it apart and make sure all the debris is out of it. Your video is great.

Thank you for this video, it was really helpful! We have a V7 and even after the filter had been washed it was still pulsing so I said to hubby there's bound to be something on KZbin and I found your video so sat down with the blue filter and managed fairly easily to prise the top off now that I knew what to do. There wasn't a lot of gunk in the bottom to be honest but I took out what there was and replaced the top in seconds. I then decided to have a go at the 2nd filter and found the V7 is slightly different from the one you show (the V6?). The V7 does not have a joint that goes down the handle. the cap is purely on the round end so it was fairly easy to prise off with a flat screwdriver. On inspection there is only one quite thick round sponge filter inside, not the 2 shown, and in my case it was quite clean, so I easily replaced the cap and we were good to go. Btw I'm a 68 year old retired lady so if I can do it anyone can, you just need a bit of firmness and stick with it and it will all come good - beats having to go to the expense of buying a new filter or even abandoning the machine altogether! Thanks again once more for your very helpful video. :-)

Thanks for the location of the second filter. Amen to previous commenter on the nicks getting the back off - I mangled mine pretty good but cut the damage off with a utility knife and sanded it smooth. In the end my back filter was not very dirty confirming that a new battery will fix it. It is pulsing and does not seem to hold a charge. That's consistent with having owned it for many years but only giving it light use. Given the cost of new ones here in Australia, I'll consider a Mikita stick vac - which lacks the rotating head, or take a punt on one of the US$200 stick vacs on Ali Express.

After giving the filters a rinse they must be totally dry before reinstallation. Speed the process by patting them thoroughly with a piece of kitchen towel to absorb most of the water/moisture. Then go through the drying process. The slightest damp in the rear filter stops proper airflow even if it's clean.

Hello, Thanks for your video. My Dyson works intermittently. I changed the battery last year because it no longer charged. There, I disassembled my Dyson until I only had the motor unit and the battery, to clean every corner inside. But it always stops after a maximum of 5 seconds, and the LED which was blue flashes orange, then after a few seconds, it turns blue again and I can restart the fan. And if I continue, it even stops sooner (less than 5 seconds of operation) But when I disconnect the motor unit from the battery and press the button as if to use the battery, the LED stays blue for a very long time!! So I'm stuck... could you help me please? Can I do other checks on the engine block? Or should it be changed? THANKS

Thanks for sharing some helpful maintenance tips. I own the same unit and the battery seems to drain rapidly during use especially under max power setting. I would reconnect the charger until the solid blue indicator light appears usually within seconds then disconnect charger and unit would restart again. I would have to do this repeatedly to clean the entire room which becomes a nuissance. Is this a sign of a dying battery pack or some other issue eg, faulty power switch?
@FINDITFIXITRESTOREITBUILDIT
@FINDITFIXITRESTOREITBUILDIT Жыл бұрын
it's the battery pack. the battery management board is cutting power because a cell is in the battery pack is draining quicker than the others. newer battery packs the BMS will just stop it working after doing the quick charge and restarts. Great video thanks. I have removed the motor and powered the motor directly with a DC power supply and still pulses, if I try to spin the motor with a screw driver I need to apply some pressure and then when this exceed the magnetic attraction, does a little step forward and stops. I am not sure this is normal, I tried to blow it with compressed air, and still pulses, I was thinking to try with wd40 as last resort. Any suggestion?

@FINDITFIXITRESTOREITBUILDIT Жыл бұрын
sounds like a bearing issue so a bit of wd40 wont hert. give it a go but with a direct feed to the motor the board won't be stopping the motor so its definitely a issue with the motor. there should be some magnetic resistance that's normal

Also any ideas for the motorised mini brush? I cannot get the brush out like the floor head. I know stuff is wound around the end making it resistant to spinning.

Yeah. Just use the stupid coin method to open the end..where you see the slot on the side of the head. From there it pops right open. All the vac heads open that same ridiculous way. Eventually the coin wears out that plastic slot and makes you hate them even more 🤣🤣

Hi. I followed all your instructions and managed to give my V6 an awesome clean. However, the small filter (donut shape) in the back literally disintegrated. I have been in touch with Dyson (in Australia) except that part cannot be bought. I have to purchase the whole back section @ $120. I have had a look online & cannot find anything similar to this filter. Just wondering if you have any information, thoughts or suggestions on where I could find one or maybe use instead of? Thank you.

Did they just start hiding the second filter on later models? On my V6 it just twists on and off and can be easily rinsed.

@@FINDITFIXITRESTOREITBUILDIT I’m not sure what you mean. It’s serviceable on my V6. Do you mean they made it serviceable on the V6 and later? What version of vacuum are you showing in the video where you have to unscrew everything to get to it?

so on the early version of the v6 (the v6 ran for about 5 years) in different specs and in the last year thay realised the filters clogged so changed them to a filter like yours so thay can be changed or cleaned easily. I hope this helps you out
