Happened to me very often (after this update) that the laser reset to zero after the first bomb and I was wiggling rapidly to switch it on again and lase manual or lose it completely. Very annoying.

It is worth noting that now (August 16th, 2024) you cannot change the LGB codes in the air. While you can use the UFC to input a "new code", this doesn't actually change the code of the bombs. If you want to have different codes, they need to be changed on the ground.

@@Xatar7 I know this is three months late on a year old comment, but you need to be in A/G mode. If you haven't pushed that button, you cannot arm the laser.

When my bombs "GBU-10" hit my target, it does zero damage. Theres no option to change the "MFUZ" and in the "EFUX", both INST and DLY1 do no damage Edit: nvm it was because I was dropping the bombs during the break x cue

I have a question. Why would you, in any sensible world, force the pilot to type in a 4 digit code multiple times to make the tgp pod lasers work with laser guided bombs that both have been loaded onto the same plane? I can understand that all these settings should be fully editable so anyone can buddy laze with anyone else, but what massive hurdle is there that stops the plane defaulting laser guided bombs to the code the tgp has when those bombs are loaded. By forcing the pilot to do it, all you are doing is introducing an unnecessary possibility of a pilot typing the value incorrectly. I also find it amazing that you can target and launch 'dud' munitions (weapons that the aircraft's system knows will be useless)

Normally, you'll have all your codes set up prior to take off. The reason you want it editable is to be able to work with a JTAC or another aircraft providing the target lase. It needs to be editable on the fly in order to provide maximum flexibility. The aircraft doesn't have a lot of guard rail as the expectation is that the pilot has enough training to make full use of the systems on board.

This game is so damn hard. I've had this plane for over a year now and the only bombs I know how to really use are the dumb bombs like mk83 and mk84. I find it so difficult I can't possibly play this confidently, I have to active pause to use anything with the targeting pods because the control of the cursor is so damn hard to control and depressing a button is hard. I get on a server and I see others in the F18 firing weapons that require all kinds of setup, and switching targerts instantly and firing more rounds. Whereas I am stuck like some bumbling idiot trying to figure out what is going on with a flight manual as I freeze time and I still suck really bad. Are there any training servers? Even following KZbin videos don't work half the time. ED is lucky, a particular type of customer would buy something like this, the general public would give up in less time than it takes to run out a return timeframe on the game sites. It is no wonder the base game is free, they'd get tons of refunds if it were not, and that weeds out everyone who thnks it's more difficult than it's worth when you can get the core game for free. I Still have the A10II and the F16 that I haven't even loaded up because they're going to be a whole new can of worms to learn....

Im i the same boat and struggle too. There are some pve servers out there which are easier than pvp. Try Hoggit (you need the password from their reddit) This might seem silly but i also spend a lot of time just learning to fly and enjoy using mlre basic planes like the f5e. One of the problems with pvp is you just 3nd up having loads of people flyong f14s around and get shot down before you know whats what. I much prefer pve servers and also cold war servers where its all opd fashioned planes and helicopters. Avoid those severs where the 'meta' is the most important thing. Also try and stivk with only one or two planes or choppers and youll get good a lot quicker. Those people who play thr meta are a nightmare for beginners so avoid pvp lile the plague

Download through the inferno for single player. Practice one thing at a time, first air to air gun, than air to air ir, than amraam, than ground gun, dumb bombs, etc etc. Little slices and practice that until you understand it fully

Best thing you can do is setup simple missions to run locally to practice the various systems you want to use. That way you can repeat the task as many times as you want until you are confident. But consider this…. Fight pilots aren’t your normal folk. They are highly intelligent, highly trained and highly skilled. This is a simulator of that same skill set. So train hard, have fun, you will get better!

I suggest learning how to use the JDAMS in pre planned mode. All you do is enter the coordinates for each bomb before you take off, then your HUD will give you visual alerts when your in range!

Totally understand. Hopefully you are still playing the game, or more appropriately the "sim" because DCS is more of a simulator than a game. That said it took me 20-25 hours to learn how to drop laser guided bombs and use the Mavericks in the A-10. What I did was create my own mission and just played the same mission over and and over and over again until I got familiar with the controls. Even now after 50+ hours of playing I still get frustrated because I do not have that full muscle memory built up yet. I still get frustrated even though I know exactly where every enemy is in the mission and what they are doing. Long story short this is like training for an athletic event. Do one thing very good. Do the next thing very good. Combine those two things until you are very good. Then do a third thing very good and then add it to the other two and so on. Remember this: Pilots in the US Navy do this every single day with real life and death consequences on the line. Playing this game makes me appreciate what they do even more.

How to center / reset the FLIR camera position? The China hat thing reset?

China Hat is the A10 function. In the F18 you can double press Undesginate button which will put the Litening TGP into VVSL mode (slaved to your velocity vector). If you then press Undesignate again, it will set the TGP into Snowplow mode. If you want to reslave the TGP to a waypoint, you can go to HSI or SA page, select your waypoint, then click on WDSG. If you want more info, GR has a tutorial on the TGPs also.

DCS Question: Will the F/A-18A/A+/A++/B/D models be added? I felt like F/A-18C wasn’t enough in the DCS World. We have the F-14A (135-GR late, and the upcoming 95-GR (early), 135-GR (early)) the F-14B, but not for the F/A-18. For me to specify the F/A-18 variants in DCS, here they are: *F/A-18 Legacy Hornets in DCS* F/A-18A/B (Lot 4 - 9) or (Block 5 - Block 22) *F/A-18A+ (Lot 4 - 9) or (Block 5 - Block 22) **F/A-18A++ (Lot 4 - 9) or (Block 5 - Block 22) F/A-18C (Lot 10 - 11) or (Block 23 - 28) F/A-18D (Lot 21) or (Block 52) *Some airframes received the AN/APG-73 radar, but does not equipped with helmet mounted display and AIM-9X **Some F/A-18A+ airframes were upgraded to the A++ with new ejection seats, helmet mounted displays and AIM-9X. Now, the older variants and block models could play differently but similarly to the F/A-18C we have in DCS: Lot 21 F/A-18C. We need a diversity of fighter jets with different variants.

I’m not making assumptions. Boeing has a video of the F/A-18C+ program where they take some older production F/A-18C. Websites and forums mentioned F/A-18A+ and A++. If I’m too complex and confusing, I’m sorry for wasting your time.

@@blueofthelightanddark6273 if thats confusing imagine simulating the spanish EF-18M wich began as an F-18A+ then it had basically all its avionics upgraded , MIDS and datalink 16 upgrades, and the MFD UFC of the Rhino but retaining the older APG-65 (upgraded to V3)

I think making a full fidelity F/A-18A+ or A++ would be a different or similar jet; I know it’s highly unlikely, but I imagine of a Navy F/A-18A+ and (Marines) A++ cockpits in DCS and how it can be accurately presentable as the real A+/A++ because we only saw the Australians F/A-18A and Canadian’s CF/A-18As cockpits. Edit: Besides, are the As analog or digital or combined both? If it’s the F/A-18A is analog, then why wouldn’t the F-15As receive modern upgrades? It could have been an F-15A++ or F-15AM.

@@blueofthelightanddark6273 The F-18A cockpit is almost the same as the F-18C .. about the only thing that changes is the fuel and engine panel wich is analog instead of digital.. it should be easy to do o DCS.. the rest is the same but with older avionics and a slighty worst radar (APG-65) and controls are the same...if we talk about an A+ it probably had its avionics and buses updated and if its a canadian , australian or spanish the avionics go beyond C standard (except the radar in the spanish ones wich was upgraded to APG65V3 but not to APG-73). The F-15A and C were much more different than the HornetA-C . the F-15C had a MFD for several functions and HOTAS wich the A didnt (different sticks between Eagle A and C). Even the Viper had a quite different cockpit and controls from the A to the C ..but the Hornet is esentially the same , upgrades were more to the inner avionics and sensors than to the cockpit/controls.

Got a GBU 12 on the rack and the laser designator switch is armed so I have L ARM on the hud. The hud is flashing code and when I hit the code button to type it in to the UFC I type the default 1688 and when I press ENT it just says ERROR. I can't tell the bomb what code to use for the track. I've followed this tutorial and Hoggit's guide but all I get is ERROR when entering the code. What am I doing wrong?

Hello there, is anybody has that problem with DCS v2.8 that the bombs vertical line not fits to the targetting rectangle? sometimes far away from that. In this case the tpod picture with targetted diamond also far away from the target at hud's diamond....Is that an issue?
