Yep, another lore note is not unicorn (rx-0) doesn't break it's arm when using the Magnum rifle. While at Gundam NT, the Gundam he uses needs to swap arm every time he shoots it

@@chiaohongcheng that's because the unit that Banagher used wasn't a gundam. It was originally AMX-014 Doven Wolf, a Neo Zeon mobile suit. The Earth Federation captured it during the first Neo Zeon war and turned it into the ARX-014 Silver Bullet. It uses a Gundam head but it's not a Gundam. Then in the event of Gundam NT, Banagher modified it into ARX-014S Silver Bullet Suppressor. Therefore it's not made from gundarium, hence it cannot stand the beam magnum recoil.

To be fair they largely could equip it with nothing BUT ballistic weapons, besides a large beam cannon, because Daryl’s company was basically a dead end unit Hence why he was supplied with only a Zaku 1 when they requested new mobile suits after Io’s first assault on their location

@@Frostknight231 of course, I mean besides the bazookas it has which are the standard for Doms, it has the standard Zaku machineguns Not even a UC era Gundam can easily tank near full clips of that in any given area without the armor buckling or being totally wrecked And Heat Hawks are still a threat even if not to the same degree to beam weapons Especially at the speeds the Psycho Zaku’s going adding in momentum to its impacts

@@Frostknight231 while fantastical in most sense of the word For the most part Gundam still follows under the more Realistic Robot Genre Unlike the Super Robot genre which gives us the likes of Voltron, Zoids, and even Super Sentai/Power Rangers With the exception of G Gundam which was PURPOSEFULLY made as a Super Robot since its director had previously worked in that genre for anime before being hired to write and direct a Gundam series In fact Thunderbolt here is much closer to Realistic in UC era Gundam then most later works once Newtype Space Magic gets involved, and even then it’s not around long until the later series like Zeta and forward get kinda ridiculous The only time ballistics are generally worthless on Gundams is those used for the first arc of Gundam Wing, but that’s because it’s Gundams are given physical plot armor in Gundamnium alloy for armor which is insanely strong for its universe

While it’s canonically stated this was a win for Daryl over Io…this was purely a case of objectivity and ‘won the battle but not the war’ Largely cause both suits were dead, especially the Zaku since it needed that lightning recharge, come battles end Daryl only won because Zeon reached the field first to recover its soldiers and assets alongside capturing the remaining EF soldiers and personal And obviously the second fact comes into play for both the fact Zeon lost the war and that Daryl’s sacrifice for the win cost him being unable to properly utilize any further mobile suits as shown with his Gelgoog in the season finale Oh and keeping Io alive cost them all the prisoners with him since he ultimately broke out and killed the guards whilst freeing everyone else, while completely naked

Daryl had some massive luck on his side. He would have died 3 times in that fight had not for circumstantial coincidences. Sure hes a good pilot but Io is as well. The FA Gundam is a far superior machine as well. Most of the Psycho Zaku's weapons aren't even a threat to Luna Titanium let alone a much more armored Gundam. It only played out this way because the plot demanded it.

@@Darth1Marik just to clear up what are the other two times Daryl got lucky? The only one that comes to mind was the lightning strike that restarted his Zaku But that’s considered fair play by fate since earlier on Io survived a direct hit from Daryl’s Big Gun via lightning strike intercepting it causing mostly superficial damage Io got repaired for later engagements

that lighting is not restart his zaku dudes....................................... its waking him up... call it luck just fine, but u guys remember the lighting saved gundam 's ass when it sniped by Daryl's zaku I ? so its fair for them, lighting saved both of their ass. win loss? its a draw if you want to think like its a street fighter game but its a lose to gundam coz its a war

Bandai really miss managed this gunpla release due to being scared about profits. They at the last minute cut corners on the Psycho Zaku MG then they cut the line short and have yet to release the next season or any gunpla from the line.

God, I loved this match up between two ace pilots in top of the line machines during it out while a kickass jazz soundtrack plays. I also loved a lot of the design references from other series, like all the missiles from the Double Zeta, the casting off of armour from the NT-1 Alex… really cool stuff.

What I love about this fight? It shows that regardless of newtype magic. Cause the lightning between them is just their gimmick like Char and Armuro. Like its funny to think that folks are hung up on this when without it. It's pretty obvious who would have won. Though like normal we get a damn draw with Zeon coming for cleanup. Sieg Zeon

So Io lost, but it's still incredible he survived the battle and fought so well. Not only did he go up against the Psycho Zaku, which used some similar technology to the Unicorn Gundam. But he also fought a pilot that was connected to the Psycho Zaku, and he was able to move it just like a human body. Which gives him a significant advantage, with just that alone. But that same Pilot awakened as a newtype during the fight. And Yet Io still almost defeated the Psycho gundam multiple times in this fight. And then defeated/Render it useless, but also got defeated himself at the same time. The fact he did all that, despite going up against a newtype and the disadvantage of slower reactions. He is an incredible pilot! And at that time he was just a regular human. The only advantage he had, was the gundam itself and his experience with it. It's sad he becomes mad at himself after this loss, as Very few other pilots could even survive this, not to mention even damage the Psycho Zaku as much as he did. This battle was incredible, not only in terms of fighting, but also these two characters alone. These two are very talented and honestly, I think they would be good friends, if they met again. Or At least I hope so.

The zaku had vastly inferior armament , Daryl did not awaken as a newtype , the psycho Zaku does not have psycho frame tech it instead has a pseudo rudimentary bootleg version that needs phisical contact with the nerves to function. All in all Io really fked up having a draw with Daryl who was also a sniper not a true combatant before

cause he jettison his fuel tank/ propellant tank 2:04, almost like a fighter dropping it fuel tank to get some extra mobility this also play into the reason why he purge his armord and backpack too so he can get some extra mobility just incase.

tbh its quite the opposite. Daryl was a semi-newtype at that time (after the fight he awakened as a full on newtype) while Io is just regular human. FA Gundam was, well, a Gundam. Earth federation's most invested and well developed killing machines while the Psycho zaku was just a makeshift experimental junkpile (a last ditch effort and a lucky shot of the Undead army) also you can see the zaku got no beam weapons aswell

@@franciswong8578 he was born a somewhat newtype but not like a full on powerful one like amuro or char. It was through pushing his limits, especially in the fight against Io, that he awakened his full newtype powers. All the zaku did was to connect its wires directly to the pilot's nerves (has nothing to do with wether the pilot is a newtype or not). Therefore allowing it to move like a human does, hence its name, psycho zaku. The similar psycho frame technology was used on the unicorn too. Which gives the two MSs their edge against other regular gundams or zakus

@@reaper5631 yeah. Still don’t understand why his feet couldn’t handle the job. They definitely succeeded in making me feel bad for him though Thunderbolt was a weird one. Some of it was really really visually awesome whilst some of the other stuff wasn’t as impressive. Like the underwater stuff and some of the space born broll shots I wish I didn’t know how space works, I would have more fun with this. Of course I also couldn’t figure out why my gunpla didn’t look as cool as the ones on the box in 2003

@TheAdequateMedia His nerves were directly interfaced into the Psycho Zaku. You can't move your arms by trying to move your legs after all. So, to get full body/suit movement synchronization he had to loose his limbs.
