Great dive into something that I think most people somewhat understand but probably haven't taken the time to sit down and write out the numbers to come up with actually ideal options.

Super cool video guys! Would it be interesting topic to cover auras and predicting next turn? I feel like all auras suck, but they are probably super strong :)
@teamcovenant

Auras are pushing value to the next turn, so it can be very strong - but if you're losing a lot of value this turn to setup more value for next turn, you'll have to really make it worthwhile to do so. Towering Titan has issues here!

@@teamcovenant I have been using your strategy and teaching my friends to calculate cards as worth 3 damage. I just checked and all auras are like 3 point short due to their high cost of 2 = 1 card. Well. I will keep trying! :)

looking forward to more of these... evaluating a hand...was a level up for me... evaluating future hands based off my pitch...is something I am still working on...

Loving this series!! Thank you for taking the time. Your videos, as a whole, are some of the best on KZbin. And thank you, for not only introducing me to FAB but also for delivering it to my door every release with the subscriptions!!

This video is really great! I think you accidentally double-count when you subtract 8 at the 18:05 mark though. In that math Entwine Lightning counts for 4, as it both gives a positive 2, and means you only subtract 8 instead of 10.

I really wish you hadn't used tales of aria cards for this video - the combinatorics of FaB is already far and away the hardest part of this game, and choosing cards that have even more random interaction between each other that effects their combat value was not wise in my opinion. I have been playing Fab for a year and watched this twice and I can still barely follow the words as you say them, let alone internalize the meaning.

Hey! You took away the Runeblade card to make the hand "legal", but still there is no Guardian that can play Lightning cards! LOL

Here's an interesting question. How much is opting worth? For example. If I'm Kano and I have four blues in my hand on the defense, and one of them is Gaze the Ages. Is it better to block for 12, or block for 9, maybe take damage, and opt 2 on my turn? Does block 9 opt 2 equate to 11 points of value, or is the value of opt dependent on the cards you see?
@teamcovenant
@teamcovenant 2 жыл бұрын
You'll have to look into the void of magical energy to math that one out! Surely it can be determined, but it would take a lot of work to build an equation that accounts for the power of Opt. Maybe that's the beauty of Kano?

@@teamcovenant thanks for the response! It seems crazy complicated. Maybe it has something to do with expected value? Back to the ivory tower! Maybe a better scenario is three blues that block for 3 and a red cindering foresight in hand, and you’re on the defense

I think you should have used one of the earlier sets to go over this topic. I showed this to someone, and they were confused about the fuse mechanics and all of the other interactions in ELE that distract from what you're going over. I may understand that those mechanics factor in to value, but that's not the point.
@teamcovenant
@teamcovenant 2 жыл бұрын
Deciding between earlier sets (simpler) and later sets (more valuable for evergreen) is a question we ask ourselves often. Adding fuse adds the understanding that value in FAB goes beyond a relatively simple math equation, and we found that valuable to show. We're aiming for a pretty broad middle with these videos, and if someone is not comfortable with fusing, their understanding may be *just* below where we were aiming with these.
