A disastrous travel to Chesterfield (11/01/2025)

We start a freezing cold Saturday morning off quite normally, until we arrive at Sheffield where it all went wrong pretty quickly.
We were booked to join the next immediate connection between Sheffield and Chesterfield, however.. The BACK portion for this service had been stopped in the wrong place, too far down the platform. Which therefore in turn the FRONT portion was unable to arrive into its booked platform successfully.
As a result of this operating incident, the front portion remained off the platform the best part of 20 minutes which led to the track circuit behind it freezing and failing to release, disrupting all trains behind it for the next 4 hours.
Did the booked train eventually depart on it's next service?... Yes, but without me. Due to its delay I decided to take a small break in hopes it'd then be ready for boarding after.. It left before I got back so that went well. The disruption it had caused meant nothing was travelling from Platforms 2 and 5 heading south. So, I made the eventual choice to join a CrossCountry train instead so I could make my destination.
For the return journey I decided not to tempt fate and returned via Nottingham instead.

What sort of idiots do EMR hire that don’t know how to move or put trains in the right places they should be retrained oh wait then will be train cancellations because of no drivers.
