His sound is not pretty, especially in fortissimo. But he really puts in the effort and shakes his hair vigorously.

@AndrewWuMusic Exactly and well said. Why should it be played “prettily”. Emotions and passions are not necessarily Hallmark postcard-pretty and, in fact, are too often messy and ugly.

@@AndrewWuMusic My ears are trained on the interpretations of Beethoven sonatas by Pollini, Michael Korstick and Brendel. The sound of these pianists is not "prettily" , the expression is nonsense.
