Venice Beach Fishing Pier, Los Angeles - October 13, 2023 - In an ongoing effort to address homelessness at Venice Beach's fishing pier, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Recreation and Parks, and Action Cleanup Environmental Services have united to conduct a cleanup operation. Workers were equipped with hazardous materials attire to prioritize safety.
Councilwoman Traci Park's office has appointed a Homelessness and Housing Coordinator to streamline coordination among the multiple city departments involved in managing homeless encampments. Three specialized waste management teams worked in concert to sort and manage refuse, including hazardous materials. LAHSA provided outreach assistance on-site.
The presence of Los Angeles Park Rangers and Police Officers ensured safety and compliance throughout the operation. Remarkably, despite the enforcement of Ordinance 41.18, which prohibits activities such as sitting, lying, sleeping in public places, and storing personal property in the public right-of-way, no citations were issued.
It is crucial to recognize that cleanup efforts like the one at Venice Beach Fishing Pier are a vital part of the City of Los Angeles' comprehensive strategy to tackle homelessness, reflecting the city's enduring commitment to address the root causes of homelessness and provide essential resources to those in need.

This old man is completely emaciated and appears sick. He barely had the strength to stand up. There should be laws that will put a person like this in a facility to get the help he clearly needs.

nobody wants to work in such facilities, they are understaffed and filled up, the only thing to do is respect the free range humans and let them live, sleep and die under the sky

@@spacelion88 Well, with that philosophy you are back in the middle ages in terms of disease. Why do you think the rest of the world has anti-camping laws in cities? For fun? It's because we don't want to go back to the time when we shat and died on the streets spreading disease and death. Hence, you must fund facilities to be properly staffed for people like this.

He’s visibly a danger to himself. How come they can’t take him in to a mental health/hospital and get him treated. This guy is not gonna last the year.

They should bring back mental hospitals in California that should be run properly but I don’t think the state of California would be bring back mental hospitals they should but first the whole state needs new leadership that’s not liberal democrat as they like all the homelessness.

@@texan40Yes it is the political left wing that grants this poor pathetic fellow the "right" to die laying on his back alone, mumbling incoherently to himself. Yes, his "rights" are very secure in California. Indeed.

@@stevethomas2094 at some point something has to change in the state of California when it comes to the homeless problem like this guy needs to be in a mental hospital of some kind he can’t function in society who knows what happened in his life to end up where he is now California needs new leadership that’s not liberal democrat at this point these seating areas need to be blocked off where they can’t get in.

Again never see any area sanitized. I wouldn't want to eat at a table that homeless people slept on. You'd have to spray down table and benches and area around the table. It says something about sanitary dept.on truck then why aren't they doing any sanitizing?
@frontier9142
@frontier9142 10 ай бұрын
You don't see it on a lot of the videos but that's the last thing they do. They've got handheld pump sprayers with a solution of sanitizer and bleach mixed with water and they spray the whole area down especially where they were sitting and lying down.

You can see this elderly man needs help can some one get him some food looks like he hasn't eaten in a long time. If you were that down and out youd take the help for food and water. I hope we don't see him passing away at the beach. C.M.
