Its nice to see good people that are really appreciative. My uncle has a Cadillac same year. Car runs perfect but that oil leak issue had gotten the best of him. He loves the car it's in good shape body wise. He won't sell or spend the cash to fix it. All you can do is shake your head.

If the head bolts haven.t been repaired the head gaskets will need to be replaced. The steel bolts into aluminum block fine thread always get torn out. There is a fix with LS studs installed but you need to drop the motor to do this.Other than that good strong motor.

NorthStars are famous for leaks (oil, antifreeze, head gaskets, etc.) My in-laws have a couple. Problems inherent in its design (sometimes even considered a lemon.) You got a good deal because it wasn't worth fixing and parts are very hard to find. Have fun with it and BTW - Don't park it on the new cement.

Jase, Northstar noted for camshaft and valvetrain issues, put one in my street rod. Blew up in 2600 mi., rebuilt, new cam, lifters , etc but prob continued, now has sbc383, no more probs

From the start of the 70s until about 1995 my grandpa bought two new Cadillacs every year. A Sedan DeVille for my grandma, and an Eldorado for himself. Out of almost 50 cars, the only ones that gave him trouble were the diesel Eldorado, the 8-6-4 in one of grandma's DeVilles, and the Eldorado with a Northstar. Good luck Jace!

I don't think they have beef and in fact have done several things together since his last attendance at the offroad games where I know he cought flack for snapping the rope that beat up matts truck and while I'm sure matt knew it was nature of the games the fans probably attacked paul for that. Paul just has his own thing going and doesn't find the offroad games and the direction they are going to be the best fit for him. I love both channels and can honestly appreciate they do their own thing with the occasional crossing of paths.

The Northstar is a powerful engine. There weak point is that the head bolts will pull out of the aluminum block if you punch it too often, which many owners did. You can do some research and find various solutions that keep the bolts from pulling out. One of them converts them into studs. Otherwise, the further you push the pedal, the faster your watch spins and the quicker it'll die.

I use to work for a spring shop in the 80's and we would replace the rear springs with cargo coils on the big GM sedans. I could replace a set of springs in 10 minutes since the springs just floated on the perch mounts.

05 to 2022 nissan frontier 4cyl was similar. Only, you had to remove the intake manifold to replace the spark plugs. Look it up, it is the most diabolical airbox you will see.

Agreed, if it were actually shot on a DSLR or something capable of producing real depth of field I'd be less bothered but this very obviously being done via software on the phone/camera it's shot on. Really easy to catch when it blurs a hat bill that should be on the same plane of focus as the subject that is in focus or when there's a halo of sharp background surrounding the subject which again should not happen with real depth of field.

The spring reminds me of a low rider car I bought, I jacked it up to change the tire and you could literally just take the spring out. Someone just torched the springs so they would compress lower to allow it to be a low rider.

I love the eldorat! I had an '02 (the last year they made them). It was my old retired guy car. The only trouble was that everyone thought they needed to wreck into it. The engine has plenty of power, though, and it was comfy.

On the Cadillac, make sure the coolant is freely circulating to and from the overflow tank. Follow all their lines and make sure they are not blocked. Good KZbin clips on this.

what you do with the caddy??? yank the motor and transaxle out and make yourself and NorthStar powered sand buggy... because when its in a buggy it will be easier to pull the heads off and replace the shinny fine thread 7/16 headbolts and retap the block so it can accept fat thread 1/2in headbolts

My suggestion for the caddy is ease it up next to the road and put a FOR SALE sign in the window.. if your wanting to turn a buck price it at 355.00 and unload it while it's still running and moving.. FYI if you tighten the torque conv. bolts you'll probably solve that noise issue.. common on those to come loose..

I think that is the model that was flown in from Europe so its a keeper! i worked for Air Cargo Equipment at the time and made the Aluminum Skids the bodies were shipped on in 747 cargo planes!
