I like to use fabric softener with hot water. Because the hair is basically plastic is helps smooth out the kinks from it being knotted. I also wash the hair with shampoo after to get the greasiness from the fabric softener out.

I did see some suggestions to add hot water and will try that next time.

mix water, cold or hot, with the fabric softener to help it coat and soak all of the hair, it saves you money and works better

You're supposed to brush your hair from bottom to top so the mattes don't move down 😭

Thank you for this! We have one of those shoulder and head, do my hair Elsa dolls and she is a mess! ❤❤

It was a bit labor intensive but her doll literally had balls of knots. It would probably work way better if it was only mildly messy and matted but definitely worth a try!

I just use dishsoap w hot water and brush whilst washing. Then I put hand lotion in the freshly washed hair (on this exact doll too) and it worked like a shiny, nice, smelling charm. And yes, the lotion did eventually settle in so the hair didn't stay wet or anything.

I received a hand-me-down doll that I instantly loved when I was about five. (I named her Gillianna.) Her hair was so terribly frizzy and matted that it was forming neglect dreads! After years and years and YEARS of trying to fix it, I finally decided not to! I simply worked with what she had and fully made it into dreadlocks. It's a vast improvement, and I dare say she looks fabulous. But oh! How I wish I had seen this a couple decades ago. I shall keep it in mind for future reference. 💚 P.S. Gillianna is a 1994 Cititoy 8-inch tall blonde-haired girl doll with bangs if anyone was wondering.

I always took such good care of my dolls. Their hair was perfect. Not a single knot. Gave them to my daughter so she can play with them and she absolutely ruined them lollllllllll. We need this hack in my household.

Can you do it with the sheets of fabric softener somehow?
@MamaMittens Жыл бұрын
I don't believe so. I think it needs to soak in the liquid because it softens the hair.
